Van Rental

  1. I pay £700 per year for my traders policy, I can drive any vehicle owned or not by me within reason so no Ferrari or Lambo's.

I second dirty Leeds for a fuss free service.

  2. Thank you for the tip. they seem to be indeed the most reasonable amongst the ones that I was checking.

  3. @Desmophil
My van is insured with the RAC and fully comp is £175 with Mrs Dukesox & me as the named drivers. It is covered for 3500 miles a year , social domestic & pleasure use only. We are both 57, I dont know if that is good or if we are now on the slippery (uphill) slope to higher premiums at this age. I was unable to use my no claims discount from my car or bike policies so with luck it may even reduce on renewal.
It is a cheap old Renault Trafic high roof long wheel base. Perfect for moving a bike.

  4. thanks - I really don't know why I never seem to have such deals. Maybe because of the South London (near Croydon) postcode. Even (dull Honda CRV) cars with 9 years no claim do never seem to go below £500 in premium...

  5. My Vauxhall Vivaro van insurance was renewed in April for £136 fully comp.

  6. So what is the exact point of such a policy?:D:p

  7. You and your fancy South London postcode. I bet you even have an inside khasi & hot and cold running water ! No wonder your premiums are high.

  9. That is probably where I got it wrong. I should have have checked the "hole in the garden" on the toilet question to get a deal!! :)

  10. Indeed and a lot of people trip up when answering how many domestic staff they employ.

  11. Of course, if you have a moat and a drawbridge it should deter the thieves!

  14. In the end I went with a van and good call out to Whitgift hire in Croydon for offering a good deal on the van, a brand new VW Transporter which was a great drive and generally very friendly to arrange with them.

Big call out to Paul as well for offering to help out. Super appreciated. Unfortunately as it appears, having a trailer costs pretty much double on the Eurotunnel crossing.
