Anybody catch Vintage Voltage at 9pm on Quest last night. Thought the presentation format was weak with not enough focus on the engineering. The product, however, was great. Would I spend £30K converting a classic to electric, I don’t Know.
Our company is next door neighbours with a company who does this sort of thing, 911's, Ferraris all been converted to electric, some of them cost £40k to do !! They have an electric drift car over 600 BHP
I watched the Goblin garage show the other night They swapped an original Fiat 500 to electric. They got all the bits from a place which was full of high end cars waiting to be converted The battery and motor for the Fiat 500 was £15,000. They sold it for £44,000 when finished
Was that a Karmann Ghia ? Watched the repeat and was horrified that not a nut or bolt was tightened using a torque wrench. That sort of engineering went out with Noah’s Ark. Andy
Look up Charge Cars, they’ve done a 1968 Mustang with full electric drive, it’s bloody lovely - mighty quick too, I have a buddy that’s been out in one (he works for another company owned by the same guy), says burn out mode is kinda fun
I downloaded the whole series, but have only watched the first episode. Don't think I would have spent that sort of money on a conversion. Here's the list of episodes, the Chesil Speedster was apparently commissioned by Chesil with a thought to supplying them as an electric option, from new. Episode 5 apparently involves a project where they create an electric bike from scratch.
