Advice - Diesel/engine Light/v4

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Jewell, Jul 2, 2020.

  1. Hmmm - you should be ok.....did the same about 6 months ago...

Brimmed my z1000 with diesel....not even thinking about it....pulled away, got 200 yards up the road and it conked out..reason.....just not concentrating....

Rolled it back to the garage forecourt, called the wife, she brought down my siphon and some containers....siphoned the tank out. Put it in the car (yep - its a diesel) filled the bike back up with posh shell stuff....

Took about 20 seconds to get started and its been fine since.....

  2. That’s a bugger! So easily done though! I wouldn’t imagine you’d do any damage if you take it home gingerly! They’re so sophisticated it wouldn’t surprise me if it popped in to limp mode! If it’s really bothering you though get it recovered!

  3. That’s only when gardening :D

  4. Probably one of the exhaust sensors picked up your 'mistake'. Diesel fuel is only a very light oil after all, so can't really harm the engine (apart from smoking like an old 2-stroke!). As long as there enough petrol in the mixture to ignite...

  5. So you made it home OK then!

  6. exhaust sensors only read oxygen. its one of the ways it detects a misfire and or a faulty cat.

  7. So bike went to a Ducati dealer.

The bike had still, half a litre of diesel so that tank wasn’t properly drained. To be fair, the tank does go slightly under the seat so almost impossible to get a nozzle down there to suck it out.

Also, one of the coil packs wasn’t connected, which was weird.

I had a basic service also, whilst it was there.

I have relay on my AA so they said they would deliver it back home.

So, a proper ball ache and waste of money/time. When I could have spent it on a Thai Girl taking a dump on a Labrador, on webcam, which always goes down a treat in the office, as light lunch entertainment.

  9. Finally got a call back from the AA...

Due to the fuel not being 100% drained - they are giving the original fee of £120 back.

Out of the £247 I paid to get it drained properly, tank off and fuel line sorted, they will offer £74.

And then, to keep my AA membership, they will send me 2x Thai midget hookers, dressed up as Nuns, with Ketamine, delivered to my work address for a lunch time treat......

Joking aside, sounds fair. I always said it was my fuck up from the start, just bad advice from the AA guy of “it will be totally fine”.....

  10. I've just joined the AA and I'm off to fill the bike up with diesel.

  11. Lucky you just joined, I re joined the RAC last week as I was out on the 1098R at the weekend - I put petrol in it though 3 times during Sunday so the RAC was a waste of money
