V4 V2 Vs V4

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Gustav, Jul 4, 2020.

  1. I will soon be looking to buy either a V2 or V4.. However I have not test ridden or sat on either of them, so hoping someone can give me a seating/comfort comparison? Would you notice any difference between the 2 bikes other than the obvious power and sound difference? I live right in the north of Scotland so my nearest dealer is a full days travel. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

  2. The V2 seat height is 840mm which is slightly higher than the 2020 V4 at 835mm (which is slightly higher again than the 2018 V4). The 2020 V4 design changes are supposed to make the bike more road friendly with a slightly softer initial compression on the suspension than the 2018 V4. Feedback on the V2 is very positive but I haven’t ridden one to compare it to my 2019 V4. Andy

  3. Christ, a full day to Glasgow?? That is a long way up!!
I’ve got a V4S for track and I absolutely love it! Fabulous power and electronics combined but obviously far too much for the road. If you live up Wick way and not mad about track days I’d say the V2 is more suitable. :):upyeah:

  4. Just on static impressions I prefer the V4 to the V2, as I'm 6ft I just feel it has a bit chunkier tank to grip on to. I bought a V2 for a whole number of reasons, not just the small matter of £5k difference though! My V2 is comfortable enough, the only issue with it is the heat which is as bad, but again a product of a rear cylinder that you basically hug with your legs and Euro5 emissions.

  5. You might be right, reviews tend to have the V2 a more manageable bike for the roads. Cant see me doing any track days but have many roads up north that although not a substitute for tracks are themselves extremely good and almost traffic free.

  6. I have owned a V4s 2018 model and ridden the V2.
I am short, 5’ 5”. I can reach the ground on the V2 but can’t even get close on the latest v4. It’s wider and therefore a longer reach to the ground. The older v4 reach to the ground is in between the V2 and latest V4.
Heat wise both are very hot to ride. I think this is the frame radiating heat.
Personally the v2 is a far superior road bike. The V4 is stupid fast for the roads meaning you feel you cannot exploit most of the power. The v2 you can give a spanking on the road.
    Check insurance costs before committing.
    Nice problem to have though.

  7. Unless you are going to ride it on track then I'd go with the V2 all day long.

Plus you'll save yourself a heap of dosh too.

  9. Only recommendation I have is to drive passed Glasgow and get a bike from down south.

  10. Agree with what the gents have been saying above....

I have a 2018 V4 and whilst it's everything you need and more, it's a bit silly/excessive for the road, as much as I pretend it's not!
Save the money, or put it towards an exhaust system and making the V2 customised to how you want it!
The full akro on mine was the best impulse buy to date, even if it still hurts to this day with what is cost

The sound of it :heart_eyes::heart_eyes: and of course, a lot less heat to contend with  make it all worth while!

  11. we all knw both the bikes are silly fast. sticking to the speed limit isnt really what they are for as with all modern and old superbikes. You will buy what tickles your fancy i guess like we all have. Yes the 2018 v4s ive got is not the most comfy on a pot hole A road but thats not the point. I bought into the Pani range of bikes when i decided to get back into riding from a longish layoff because i could just about buy what i class as my Dream bike. course i get on my V4 and think im a fool but im a lucky fool for being able to have one.

  12. The V2 is fast enough to pull power wheelies in 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
I’ve had mine lowered by about an inch and the seat lowered by 1/2” cos I’m a short ass. She’s lots of fun.

  13. Did lowering affect anything? Other than the height ie handling

  14. No. At least not so someone of my caliber can tell. I’m a rapid rider and have been riding 30yrs, but if you get the front & back lowered together the main problem will be the lean angle when the side stand is down and you may need to get the side stand shortened. Thankfully the V2 leans a lot as standard so the side stand didn’t need cutting.

  15. Cool who did the lowering? Cheers

  16. Got a lowering kit from Ducabikes and then dropped the forks accordingly- and then had the whole suspension setup by TW in Preston.
None of it was difficult to fit if you have the tools.

  17. I just had 20mm taken out of the seat pad, with a gel insert put in too. Worked a treat :)

  18. I had the seat lowered too...but I'm a real stumpy ass with only 28" inside leg measurement....

  19. Feck me...................I thought I was a hobbit but sounds like I'm a giant compared to you. :p

  20. :D
One of my bikes is an RVF400 - that is the only bike I've ever had where I can reach the floor at both sides at the same time.
