How To Be An Idiot (warning)

Discussion in 'Trackdays & Rider Skills' started by Advikaz, Jul 10, 2020.

  1. It was her daughter allegedly with the missed gear / mechanical.

it was hazel who pulled up on the anchors alongside her

  2. She was clearly concerned about her daughter, I bet she would have not stopped if the other rider slowing down is a stranger..and then post that complete nonsense on FB.....I hope MSV will have a word with her.

  5. I haven’t done one for a while now, but NL used to be carry on as normal, CSS Ducati days I think we’re knock it off and slowly return, Hoyt Rac was no overtaking

  6. As I’ve said, I’ve done TD’S where that’s the case.

  7. Regardless of the mistake made in this case it seem pretty obvious there is a major flaw in the lack of consistency as to the meaning of Chequered flag on trackdays.

I doubt there would be the same disagreements as are currently going on on the trackday addicts page over the meaning of a red or yellow flag.

It needs to be standardised across the industry - absolute clarity needed in the briefing and no variation between organisers.

  8. Would anyone, at any track, classify the mother going past a stationary (or very slow) rider as an overtake?

  9. Only someone who enjoys working as a traffic warden or HMRC Tax Inspector.....

  10. Do t stat me on yellow flags. Most of the se TD heroes have no idea whatsoever what to do or what it means. And nor do most club racers for that fact

  11. I got overtaken on a red flag at Portimao by someone I had passed a few corners earlier. He then proceeded to go full chat through the next two red lights overtaking people, went past pit lane entrance and had to do another full lap on his own under reds.

I still wonder to this day what would have happened if he had piled into someone else's accident at full chat. You have to worry if someone can't see red lights and flags when they appear.

  12. There is absolutely zero concern shown for the injured man. "thanks for reaching out man, but fcuk off, I had to pay for a battery" You can see that the daughter didn't lick it off a stone.

  13. The excuses are a bit thin from hazel given her experience. For fucks sakes she's completely in denial, the first thought about suddenly slowing down is to signal to those behind to alert them., usually hand up.

It's a universal practice seen at all levels of races and usually at track days.

She needs a hi viz "Polite Notice" vest vehicle can stop unexpectedly, after a lengthy ban. Who would want to ride in a group that she's in.

  14. They are both partly at fault in my opinion.

The camera bike was assuming that others would be riding like him on the in lap. He should have been more alert and prepared for random behaviour after the flag.
The bike that was hit slowed unreasonably and without a hand in the air.

  15. Thing is, she was shifting till she saw her daughter slow down then hit the brakes, it's not like camera guy was flying up behind them at a massively different speed.

  16. Agree with this. You have to stay switched on for the inlap. But that daft mare braked in an acceleration section of track.

  17. I’m not on trackday Addicts (mainly because I think it will make me even more suspicious of going on track in the uk) but I can’t believe this woman can’t take responsibility, although if she is indeed a racer, it’s not their natural habitat to take blame as they are competitive. That or she is worried about a law suit, which has happened, I know of someone who took out a case against someone and won.

she did loads of damage, that wrecked wheel is a bmw forged rim (part of the performance pack) set which is probably a £1k to replace alone, not to mention surely a bent swingarm. And yet she just seems totally unfazed, let alone the damage to the other bloke!

  18. Just asked the sign on person at Mallory when briefings are coming back and she didn't know. I told her about the debate as to what to do after the chequered flag and how MSV/NL are different and said it may be an idea to point it out to people.

    I don't think she listened.

  19. You at Mallory today? Assume no spectators still allowed...

  20. I went to see some mates at Cadwell last week. If they leave your name at The security gate you should get in ok. Riders can list guests as ‘helpers’
