Can’t remember, to be fair it was about 15yrs ago? But in know it was the hairpin at the end of the start finish straight at Pembury South Wales.
I always get >.< when people talk about chicken strips. Look at the tyres here. Plenty chicken strips - yet enough lean angle there to get my knee down. It is easy to scrub your tyres to the edge if your body positioning is wrong on the bike - i.e. you push the bike down underneath you. Some tyres have steeper profiles and to get to the very edge of the tyre requires much more lean. With the Pirelli tyres on my V2 - if I were to hang off the bike correctly I'd be getting my elbow down if I scrubbed it to the very edge of the tyre. And, I imagine, very swiftly followed by my face down.
Lots of riders trail brake with knee down. I think it depends on the tyre as well how big the strips are. You definitely want some margin
Yes it's a lovely QUICK road! Did it most days when I was living down there for a while. Best road in Cornwall. Glad to be back in dear old Devon.
Choose the right lines and let the knee scrapers try and catch up ...yes the tyres look good at the bike meet but the ones trying their hardest to crank it right over to the tyre edge on the road often slow you down
Id probably completely overshot it when I was distracted by the guy with the camera, fooked the corner entry but styled it out for the camera That was the first bike I did track days on and was a good one for it actually, very stable and predictable mid corner, much like a ZX7R. The B1H ZX6R I had after it was far more "edgy" Tyre profiles make a huge difference, but I think a couple laps of donnington will see those gone.....
I simply wouldn't waste too much, or indeed any more valuable time, worrying about it. Just ride your bike and let this stuff take care of itself......
You don't need to get rid of chicken strips to be bloody fast on the road , but to get rid of them by cranking your bike right over around a roundabout ,leaves you no where to go when some twat pulls out or suddenly switches lanes. Like wise ,to take those blind left or right hand bends cranked right over leaves you in a shit state ,when you find a tractor, cyclist ,lorry or in the best case scenario loads of crap on the road on your exit .There is a fantastic section of bends on a piece of road near me and i used to ride these really ,really quickly ,that was up to the point a chap i was really friendly with ,met a cyclist around one of these bends, avoided him and had a head on , its fair to say it shook me up to hear he was dead .Not surprisingly ,if this happens to someone you know it wakes you up a bit ,just be safe.
I'd be worried about riding completely vertical on BT016's, let alone leaning over. Hated them on my S1000RR so much I swapped them for a new set after less than 500 miles!
