I am going to look at a face lift model, manual, diesel vRS with Carole’s daughter later today. Same engine as my Seat Leon so I know about cam belts and water pumps but is there anything else I need to be aware of ? TIA, Andy
A guy at work had one and got up to around 230k miles with barely a blown bulb let alone anything serious. It seemed a very good car I thought.
I've had three Octavia diesels (2 were company cars) and I loved em. My two company ones were the 170hp TDI versions and both covered over 100k with no faults whatsoever. Obviously you know the cambelts replace situation at around 70k
Thank you all. We are here, it looks good, looks looked after. The 18" blackline alloys are un marked and the rest of the car looks clean. It has a service history although not all Skoda. Might take a punt, see how much I can chip him to pay for a proper Skoda service. Andy
Strong reliable car that handles well and can be driven with some spirit. And returns decent mpg and easy to drive.
Nowt bad to say about them Andy ( and I sell parts for them for a living ) - when you get the cam belt done make sure you have the mixing water on the invoice ( warranty purposes costs bugger all )
Collected the car this morning. Carole’s daughter is over the moon although she did ask her boyfriend to drive it back from just outside Ringwood to more familiar roads. Paid top wedge for it but it is clean, has a service history, good MOT history, 12 months MoT and the seller offered an additional 24 months on top of the 12 months insurance backed warranty that has a reasonable value repair limit which covers major components including the DPF. I have a very good Skoda workshop near me who has agreed to give it an inspection for a small fee. Thanks to all for the advice and info. Andy
I've posted this before on here but its worth saying ! A buddy traded a 190 bhp Octavia diesel in with 685000 kms on the clock ran sweet even then and no problem with its DSG gearbox either bought new and serviced properly it was impressive !
