Anyone Renewed Their Passport???????

no, haven't got one don't want one ...............

 

Just renewed my daughter's passport online a few days ago. No problems at all but they warn of it taking longer as usual to process.

 

I did my online renewal on Monday, was surprisingly painless apart from the DIY photo.

 

I did mine last time in one day. But I had to spend a day loafing around in Peterborough.

 

Thread carefully, other half send off passport to DVLA, it has now been gone for over 10 weeks, and they can’t even tell her if it is in their possession , being told there is hundreds of thousands lying around, huge backlog , so if DVLA is a mess I expect the passport office not to be much better, I suppose a lot of people in government jobs didn’t really take the hint that we should all go back to work.......

 

I guess keep trying. Might be temporary. I know they have a backlog. A friend had some issue getting his and the phone helpline kept ringing out on him but he did get it sorted. If you have to travel a lot for work you can get a second passport. All you have to say is you are a frequent traveller and one passport might be away having visas done. If you stagger them one or 2 years apart you always have a valid one. I'm lucky as I have a German passport and Id card and a British passport as well so always have something I can travel on.

 

Did mine and it arrived quickly at the height of COVID.

As above, the pain in the backside was the photo, to make sure it met the criteria with shadows etc.

Maybe it’s a bit like booking a sold out track day? Just keep checking and having a go

 

I took a photo of a passport photo on my phone. The system loved it.

 

I think it was my house. Trying to get a picture against a light background without a shadow behind me was harder than you would think.

DVLA I know people who have been waiting months and can’t get any sense out of them. My previous dealings with passport office have always been remarkably quick, never waited more than 10 days for a new passport.

 

Ghislaine Maxwell has three she can’t use at the moment if you need a spare.

 

Call the passport office at Peterborough and see you if you can arrange to get a new one within the day. Explain to them you're a keyworker and travelling on business....oh and it's an emergancy!!!

If not i've got a dingy you can borrow??

 

I read that the one day option in person has been suspended until further notice.
