Motorcycle Display Cabinet

  1. I know this is a decadent idea, but I'm thinking about putting a bike on display indoors. The only problem is the marauding toddlers, who will no doubt use this prized possession as a climbing frame/painting easel/spring board/lego storage ......

So an acrylic cabinet of some sort could be the solution. Something strong enough to take the weight of determined marauding toddlers. Anyone know of a display type product on the market?

  2. I once priced up a UPVC ‘box’ to keep my Z1000 in, was going to have it in the garden with water flowing over it.
The idea got poo-pooed in the early stages, the bike ended up in the conservatory, where the heat popped all the seals and we ended up with various fluids on the Amtico floor.

  3. Oh, I think they'd soon work out how to imprison one another in that.

  4. Now there's an idea and a solution?

  5. As an idea, John Brown of Hunts Motorcycles, Kingsway, Manchester has his Honda RCV213 is such a display cabinet. You could ring him & ask where he got it from.

  6. Shouldn’t be difficult to make something like this at the Steve Hislop museum.

  9. You could get a u shaped frame made by a pvc window manufacturer. Could even have a door in one end. Depends on budget really.

  10. @cookster this is why you need to be careful in conservatories ;)

  11. I made one of those. He's a teenager now and a pain in the backside.

  13. Just finished renovating a period property and thought whilst the other half is away I might be able to buy a perspex case (off-the-shelf) and surprise her with my latest interior design idea.

I'll definitely look into the cost of getting something made, but for now it looks like its staying under covers in the garage.

  14. Thread moved

  15. Probably be cheaper to knock up a false wall with a window in it and surround the bike with mirrors, down lighters, up lighters etc

  16. Or just get an electric fence, available from any farmers hardware store I’m sure ;)

  17. A well constructed Ha-Ha would be much less obtrusive visually.

  18. Haha, I was going to say the same thing! But as he is now a teenager, it might be cheaper in the long run to buy him his own motorbike to sit on/ride?
edit, I got the OP confused with @Oberon but similar may work with toddlers?
