So what happens? You dont need MOT until end year 3, you take a bike less than that, convert to track trim with number plate, does it need an mot or not?
Is a MOT a requirement for a track day even? It has been a very long time since I did a TD don’t recall anything other than a cursory look at my bike?
No. Bondy’s thread made me think. It’s a new 2020 bike, now fully track trimmed, can he ride it on the road still in that trim with a number plate?
You can get an MOT with road legal tyres and a horn . There will be an advisory saying that there are no lights so can only be used in daylight . Might need a speedo to satisfy a PC if pulled , but a smartphone on the bars with a GPS speedo app will suffice If less than 3 yrs old as long as you have the horn and tyres you’re covered
So if it’s less than 3 yrs old you don’t need to do anything (other than make sure insurance know it’s modded)?
Any vehicle has to be road worthy at any time. An MOT test only certifies that the vehicle was good at the time of the test. So the second you leave the test centre you can be pulled over and prosecuted for a vehicle that's not road worthy. Where that leaves you with the case you describe I don't know.
No mot for three years. coppers might care. But they’re a little busy at the moment trying to enforce all these laws the government keeping making up
Having tried to insure a track bike on a normal insurance policy, it does confuse the shit out of them!
