Expandable Garden Hose

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Roadtrip, Jul 29, 2020.

  1. I have no idea about the hose, I'm an old school rubber guy myself. I will say that cheap water/ spray guns are not worth a damn.

  2. There are better expandable hoses out there, they may be more expensive but they will last a lot longer, a friend told me

  3. Had a similar one, in principal a good idea, however, be aware you need a shit load of pressure to expand the hose, I couldn’t get enough water out to satisfy my pressure washer, and it only lasted 12 months before it sprung leaks in numerous places. I’m back to a traditional hose now. My advice steer clear

  4. I moved to an expandable hose this year after I had my normal hose for about 20 years. The first one (X-Hose} lasted 3 weeks. I contacted the seller to be told: no refund, the instructions tell you that you can't leave them turned on or they'll burst! Bought a cheaper one off e-bay and it's already sprung a leak after less than 2 weeks { and it hasn't been left on). I'll be going back to the traditional one!

  6. I bought a 30m hozelock one from Amazon a week ago for £40 to replace a Chinese one I bought a couple of years ago. Quality seems very good, so far.

  7. Bought one from Amazon - tried to explain to wife how great it was compared to the traditional hose. Just beyond year warranty it fell apart - back to original rubber hose......

  8. Didn't think of pressure to expand as it needs to go 130'

Thanks all for the good response :upyeah: it seems as i thought stick to rubber :splat:

  10. In my experience with these new expandable hoses they tend to leak at the tap end and sometimes blow off after a period of time.

  13. Got two one in stables one round house - don’t buy cheap they are crap but do buy with the brass fitting as the plastic breaks on the cheap due to pressure.

No issues for me and wouldn’t go back to a normal hose.

Just remember to turn it off before you’ve finished takes ages to empty and shrink back to store.

  14. I’ve got a yo yo expandable hose ( Ducati Red one obv) had it a year And so long as you turn the tap off and let the water out of the hose it’s great had no issues with it at all, comes with a waterproof bag too so you can store it away from frosts etc ... x
