hi all, now and again I lose all my electrics rev counter , lights , indicators , warning lights the bike still starts and runs fine though, any ideas guys ????................ im after a pair of front discs if any one got any , thanks Davey
Check your dash plug, from what i remember it's behind the headlights. Or wait for a better response cos thinking about it that shouldn't affect the lights. Although there's a plug for the lights behind the headlights too so it might be worth a look if nobody has a better idea. There's always checking the fuses and fuse box in case they're getting a bit corroded.
Davey, all those services earth through a common earth connection to the battery and a single connecting pin in the knurled round connector under the front right hand side of the tank (the one final edition mentioned). As you are losing all the services at the front it is most likely that the problem is either a dodgy or burnt pin or that earth circuit wire is damaged somehwere in the front part of the loom. Separate the two halves of the connector and look for the black wire(s) and the pin and corresponding socket marked T on each side of the connector. If there is no obvious problem on pin T you then need to get a length of wire and make a temporary connection direct from the battery negative into one of the earth connections (black wires) in one of the connectors in the front fairing area (such as the headlamp connector plug). If the problem goes away you have confirmed an earth continuity problem and will need to look further. Hopefully you will discover a dirty, loose or burnt connection at pin T. If the pin contacts are black you may find the wire is also a bit damaged as they can get quite hot if the contact is bad. The easiest way of repairing it is to solder a new earth spliced into the black wires each side of the plug to bypass the damaged pin.
The earth wire in that part of the loom, hidden under the sheathing, bifurcates in many earths. You could have a fractured soldered joint in one of them.
Felt it was more suitable in the Superbike section rather than technical help. I do see your point thou
