Ride out on the 996 before Donington on Tuesday. Check all bolts torqued, chain, oil. Fit solid clutch cover. Indicators, mirrors and plate off. Secure rear light (gaffa tape) as it worked free from carbon single seat unit which flexes around the rubber mount. Check tyres and pressures. Tank nearly empty. Ready to go.
Day 5 of the road trip going down from Inverness to Edinburgh the long way around , taking in the views from the A 939, what a fantastic panoramic views!
The kids go back to school in Helensburgh next week so it looks like we’ll not see them until half term at the earliest This morning me and SWMBO went food shopping. It’s the first time she’s been in a shop since 23rd March as she’s been shielding till now. And I think it’s the first time we’ve been food shopping together in about 18 years! This afternoon the weather improved so I went out for a couple of hours on the scrambler. If you’ve never ridden one then you really should because they are a hoot. I’m out tomorrow morning at 7.30am with one of my neighbours (Fireblade Steve) for a few hours, so I can get back and do some sunbathing the rest of the day
today i got some bridgestone s22's to the mag wheels that i pic.ed up (along with my newly painted bits and bobs) from bristol yesterday. then started putting the 748 bac together. got the rear wheel fitted after removing hugger and giving every thing a dam good clean. got for.s in and clipons bac. on. tomorrow i will fit exhaust, air box and as much of the body wor. i can while i await my new bra.e pads and disc bolts. just ordered belts so with any luc. i may have a rideable 48 real soon! today was better than Christmas. (not a real good analogy as Christmas sux arse but youl get me im sure!)
Sorted out my box of spare bits and catalogued them - I like lists Ordered two replacement rims and tyres for my rib trailer as they are rusted to hell and one has a puncture - the joys of dunking them in salt water.
Went for a drive with SWMBO, took a different road than usual just for a change and chances upon the most stunning display of Irish wild flowers to brighten an otherwise overcast day. Oh and walked to a lighthouse as well. https://www.facebook.com/104166901199009/posts/170145477934484/?vh=e&d=n
Watching Motogp and it is going to be a fucking scorcher today, 30 degrees predicted today 32 tomorrow!!
Early morning dog walk in the comparative cool then fannied around for a while until I got the new Daytona over to Jack Lilly in Ashford for its first service at 600 miles. Here’s a shot covering most types of bikes (personally I only like the Striple and Daytona but it takes all sorts!).
Tried my leathers on for the first time since July last year Only consolation is, with the weather over the next 3 days, I should lose a pound or two which might make all the difference Andy
Just replace sugar with Ecstasy and Speed in your morning cuppa and within a week, you’ll look like a bean pole.....
Time marches on, it’s been at least 50 years since I was last described as a ‘bean pole’. I was 6’ at 11 and reached 6’4” by the time I was 15. Took a few more years and Guinness before my frame padded out and it’s been downhill ever since apart from an aberration in my late 30s/early 40s when I played competitive squash and weighed about 13 stone. Haven’t seen 16 stone now for a good few years Andy
I've been titulated this morning in Kent for a few hours working on a property, also had a float around the area looking at different architectural designs, and now for a rideout very soon.
