Not here. If you want reliable communications then you use a landline, to which you can connect all of your devices to. I don't understand why any business would not have a landline.

A quick scan of all the business in Bristol and Gloucester reveals they all have landlines. In the minority, I know. You get so used to those conversations, "Have you got a 210V17 tyre in stock?" "WHAT?" HAVE YOU GOT A 210V17 TYRE IN STOCK?" "WHAT? I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" "WHAT?" "WHAT?" "I'LL CALL YOU ON THE L A N D L I N E!" "WHAT?" "I SAID... OH FORGET IT!" "CALL ME ON THE LANDLINE! OH F*** IT! I HAVEN'T GOT A LANDLINE!" Brrrrrrrrrrr.........

 

25 years in the same premises same company name never had a landline but for the ye old fax machine ! The poor girl is still plugged in but I'd say hasn't printed a thing in 15 years I must get a landline that seems to guarantee my legitimacy , not my certification or tax clearance cert

 

Perry would only be happy if it was a Telex Machine. No new fandangled faxes for him.

This is where Frasers are in Gloucester - my nearest big dealer.

Gloucester Car Boot & Flea Market (open 2 days per week) only have a mobile number. All of the other fly-by-nights, like Frasers, Enterprise, EMR, Ultimate, etc fob me off with an o345 or a 01452 number.

And they've got the canal next door to chuck in their SIMs when they no longer want them!

Haven’t had a landline for over 10 years since we moved to Ireland. Why pay a monthly fee for nothing? Built a food business from nothing over 7 years ended up nationally supplying the 2 largest supermarkets in Ireland, never needed a landline in either of the 2 production units or the office. They’re not necessary these days @PerryL. I also think you perhaps owe @OllieW an apology, I understand why you made the comment you did but you’ve dissed a pukka business.
I say this from experience. I made an off the cuff comment about a bike on here a few weeks back, it was very cheap for what it was. In doing so I unwittingly cast unwarranted aspersions upon the seller’s business. He responded, on here after joining, we subsequently spoke and I was happy to publicly correct any aspersions I may have cast as it wasn’t fair to his business. It’s hard enough at the moment for all businesses without them being dissed unnecessarily.

 

Tbf it’s perry’s opinion. Doesn’t make it the same as everyone else’s.

 

I think car and bike iconics look like a great outfit and what a well cultivated collection they have for 2 and 4 wheels

Dunno what the situation is in Ireland.

Frasers seem to manage with the horrific cost of a landline and somehow resist the urge to go mobile. Like mobiles are cheaper than a landline. I do sympathise as my landline is crippling expensive whereas the mobile is pennies!

 

In fairness the dealer in question was neither in his mothers bedroom or waiting for mammy to serve tea so the opinion was wrong !
