Dash Lights For Mhr / Darmah (others?) Available

Discussion in 'Vintage' started by Fire3500, Aug 7, 2020.

  1. Great news for MHR / Darmah owners, someone in Aus has reproduced the dash lights. I have ordered a set for my ‘80 MHR and will report back in due course... the site is here

  2. Just to add some (hopefully helpful) information.

My lamps are on their way, fully tracked via Australia Post. As they’re now in the UK I got a letter from Parcelfarce advising me that they have my lamps but would like £60 for customs and handling (the handling was £12... at least Dick Turpin wore a mask).

The cost is almost irrelevant as these lamps are simply otherwise unavailable, and the expense will be long-forgotten before the appreciation and satisfaction of them wears off.

Anyone looking to complete their Darmah or MHR who simply cannot bear to not know that their winkers are flashing may be similarly willing to just get the job done. :)

  4. They look pretty good quality.

  5. They look perfect and just the job if you're desperate to keep your bike standard but...
There's a good reason that they're known as "Idiot Lights" because only an idiot needs them.

  6. It's pretty hard to find neutral on my bike without the light so I guess l'm in with the idiots..

  7. If they’re fitted and standard to the bike then they need to be working! :)

I’m generally pretty good at remembering to turn indicators off but it’s just nice to know that all is working as intended. :)

    They look great actually.

  8. As it’s only got a centre stand, if you forget to take it off the stand then an idiot light isn’t going to save you, you have bigger problems...

  9. The Neutral light on a Bevel twin had a mind of it's own. They told more lies than the Donald Trump.

  10. It's a rewarding challenge to align neutral with a satisfying lamp.

  11. Is anybody else selling these yet? I see they’re on Mdina’s site but just wondered whether there’s an alternative.

    Cheers

  12. Check medina, and double check against BevelRubber in Aussi, which is probably where they have been sourced from, then estimate import duties! and make your decision, at least if the import Is from Australia it will go through a well traveled import process, I had tried to import some Ducati parts from Holland, and they ended up being sent back to Holland as the import delivery Co (Hermes) didn’t contact me to pay the import duty.

  13. Thanks Chas

Yes I had a long running issue with Parcel Farce over the way an import was handled. They over charged by £400. It took 11 weeks to resolve. I’m waiting for a delivery from Holland at the moment so will keep an eye on it when it hits customs.

The Mdina lights are def made in Oz.

  14. Problem I had was that the Dutch delivery was sent via the Dutch Royal Mail, who use(d) Hermes, who won’t speak to you unless you have a tracking No, but don’t recognise the Dutch tracking No! The supplier (back to classics) did refund me fully but is was a PIA. In the end I decided to use the Aussies as Mdina only had some of the parts needed ( new instrument cover and switch for for a 750 GT)

  15. Annoying!

was import duty high on that?

  16. Look great too...
