Hi guys Is there any diy guides available Showing how to remove gear shift lever on a 1299 ? I need to fit a replacement thanks
You need to remove the clutch slave cylinder first the rest becomes much more visible after its removed, but its a faff just for a gear lever !
It's fairly straight forward, just fiddly. Loosen the shift rod screw and remove that, loosen the pivot bolt, then take out the two hanger screws, They're the awkward bit. Swap the lever then reassemble. It helps if you take off the heel plate, but be careful with the screws. They're held in with threadlock from hell and it's easy to round them out.
Try Nelly's way I stripped mine further to change the quick shiffter so you mightn't need to go so far !
