Can Anyone Id These Wheels?

Discussion in 'Sport Classic' started by Mitch-D, Apr 23, 2020.

  1. Can I ask what the rear bearing sizes are?

  2. rear is 52mm / 25mm and 14mm if I remember correctly.

    front is 48 ish/ 25mm / 12mm

  3. Aggressive? No idea what you mean. IMG_2068.JPG IMG_0026.JPG

  4. Hi Mitch,
if you do decide to part with the 5 spokes, I could be interested. No timescale, just prep for a future build.

    Cheers!

  5. As you shared, there are some options for the bearings.
Or indeed get a sleeve made and retain the original sizes.
Fronts are 25 14 12 and rears are 25 52 15. I have talked with a local race shop who have just had a set of magnesium TZ250 wheels from a rare race bike sleeved. It clearly can be done. The threads for the discs are also not perfect. I would helicoil these as a matter of practice to make a proper job of it. Then get the rims correctly treated before wet paint.
However, having done all the research I have run out of motivation currently.

So I have bought a set of ST4 Marchesini 5 Spokes to get me back on the road. I will review a set of new rims during the winter. Maybe the PVM 10Y. A nice mix of spoke vintage flavour with the performance of lightweight wheels. Let's see what Santa's budget is later in the year.

  6. Hi Grant, as my previous reply to Akorenika says, I have parked the magnesium marchesini restoration and going for ST4 rims for a while. I need to ride the bike..

I hadn't actually thought about selling them, rather to sort them in the long run, as they are lovely wheels. But please feel free to make an offer for them. Any funds raised could go towards my new wheels..

  7. So here's a question for you guys. Who has experience of ST4 Wheels on a SC?
I will be receiving the ST4 wheels next week hopefully. I don't have any spacers or anything, only the original SC axles.
Looking on the ST4 exploded views from the parts website that I use, there is a speedo drive on the front axle. Obviously SC's don't have this part, and I will need a spacer to replace this part in the assembly. Can anyone advise?

Also the rear wheel appears not to need any spacers. Is this correct?

Starting from non standard wheels and spacers, I don't know what the ST4 or SC setups are like.
    Many thanks.

    Shiny wheels...

Looks like No.9 is the only bit I will need to fit the wheels?
(And want to replace with simple spacer if possible)

  9. At last, all the bits are here, and I can get it back together again. Went for a shakedown ride yesterday and it was great to ride the SC.
