Tyre Lettering For My M797

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by Jon M, Aug 11, 2020.

  1. After a lot of uhm-ing and ah-ing I finally decided to go for tyre lettering for my M797. These ones are custom cut rubber letters from https://www.tirestickers.com/shop/motorcycles/ that you permanently bond to the tyre with the supplied glue. They're not exactly cheap, £88 for 24 letters on both sides of both tyres and another £36 to get them shipped over from the USA (you can go for cheaper delivery but they won't be insured against getting lost in the post and could take a while to arrive, mine took about 12 days)

Application took ages but most of my time was spent cleaning the sidewalls with acetone (nail polish remover). There's a really good video here on how to apply them The Best Tutorial for Installing Custom Tire Letters

I'll have to buy new ones when I replace the tyres but personally I think it was well worth it.

  2. Are you asking opinions? I kind of get it ....but I wouldn’t do it in one million years I’d rather have my balls pinned to my ears ..but I am full of red wine in the middle of the sea bored out my head

So don’t take me seriously please

  3. Haha that's OK Carl, I know they're a bit of a love/hate thing. My brother saw them (before they were on the tyres I have to say) and just said "tragic!". But I've always liked the look, I just couldn't decide if it was going to be worth the cost over a £5 tyre pen. Now that I've done it I'm glad I did

  4. That’s all that matters that you like it ...I can see the appeal especially to non bikers as it does look ok to non bikers but to bikers generally I’d say no...but at some point in the past I had the white pen on my bike tyres and thought it looked the dogs danglies so there ye go...this is just forum/internet banter anyway so it matters not but the sooner you paint them black the better :joy:
