  1. Looking to take my Son next year to Italy to see the Ducati and various car Museums but have never been myself so not sure how best to approach. He will be seven by then and we both like the quieter life so not keen to stay in the middle of the night life area!
I’ll fly from Gatwick if possible but not sure of the nearest airport to the Museums.
Thinking of 5 nights if that’s enough so any Hotel recommendations would be handy, must have a pool though.
Unsure if i should hire a car when I get there or just get taxis.
    Looking to go August 2021.
    Thanks

  2. When I get going again, I want to do this - probably 2022. Interested to know how you get on.

I'm not flying but isn't Milan the nearest international airport?

  3. I flew to Florence (Fiorenzi) when I visited that part of Italy but had to change at Rome to get there, iirc.

  4. You want to fly to Bologna and stay in Bologna it has some nice quiet spots to stay, the wife and me go to Italy quite often(we have friends in Rimini). We stayed in Bologna one year for a week and it is nice there and Borga Panigale is a short train ride for the Ducati museum and basically the lambo and ferrari museums are not far from bologna and close to each other. Once at Bologna airport you will need to catch a taxi to bologna or there is a bus(Taxi drivers are hit and miss, some are really cheap and some will try and fuck you over) buses are the cheapest in getting around or trains they are cheap compared to here. If you use trains be sure to validate your ticket(they are valid for a month hence why you need to validate) there is a green box thing on the platform walls dotted about and you put the ticket in and it just stamps, i've seen so many people that don't know get well fined, again some inspectors will tell you this or you can get a bastard who will just fine you!! Do plenty of research and you can't go wrong really and most italians in Bologna speak english(tourists).
