No idea where to put this thread so if it's in the wrong place, apologies mods! I need to get rid of a 2009 VW Passat estate. It's a runner (with the usual wear and tear) but I don't need it anymore and as it's got 110k on it and isn't ULEZ-compliant, figured it would be simpler and less effort to just scrap it. So... anyone know any reliable scrap-yards that will collect from SE London? (I booked one through a scrap comparison site but they didn't show up / have gone AWOL.) Thanks!
Just tow it down to the southcoast and before you know it,there will be a family of four living in it.
Thanks guys - will give the guys in Erith a shot. DS - Would have popped it on eBay but its MOT is due to run out next week and I can't be bothered to re-MOT it or insure it. I was assuming that no one would want it without those (although I don't expect any major problems from the MOT). I'll ponder it
I sold a Volvo estate car with No MOT (it was junk and given to me) two odd years ago for £250,a polish HGV driver showed up with cash & extra long ramps.
Someone will for parts even without Mot, just pop a £250 classified add or there abouts. I sold a totally non running Toyota ages back on the bay got 650 non runner no log book. A 2009 passer is worth more than just scrap value IMO.
Unsure of where you are in SE, I go here for my bike and car MOT. Really helpful https://pmautocare.co.uk/
I would suggest putting it on eBay. Even without an MOT it will be worth something to someone. Many VW parts are used across the VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda range, so some parts from your Passat have a wide appeal. Just the interior (seats and door cards) and the wheels could be sold for a few hundred if they’re in reasonable condition.
