900 Ss 1993 Manual & Instruments Questions

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by Scottiebike, Aug 21, 2020.

  1. Has anybody got a link to a download for 93 900 ss manuals? Found one but it is in multiple languages and measurements in imperial (?)

    Any printed versions worth buying?

Instruments - I would like to refurb the speedo & rev counter needles as they have faded badly. Is the bezel ring screwed or crimped on?

    thanks

  2. @Chris to the cable driven instrument takey aparty phone...

  3. Sev, pretty sure you know as much as me here. Rev counter/speedo needles are "interference" straight-pull off type, people have devised many ways of removing, I think the last time I did one involved a dismantled wooden clothes peg. OOI, @Nasher has had some foam surrounds made but they might be for 3 instrument type only plus may have all gone by now.

Re: Manual - I guess you have trawled thru' all the Internet possibilities? Carl Salter site used to have them, i'm sure more help will follow and if you search other Technical help threads on here there might be links available. Hard copies turn up on EBay now and then as are surplus to most people's requirements it seems.

  4. sorry, mis-read post - re: instrument bezel, you have picked a difficult one. With a lot of care and patience you can "unpeel" the aluminium surround and then carefully bend back on re-assembly. That's the route I took last time and far easier than later instruments.

  5. The bezel is steel and not alloy, its a pig of a job and difficult to put back on as securely as it was. I have painted a needle with success recently, not put it back together yet

  6. yes, it's been a long time since I did the last one, but mine was definitely not "steel" it was actually quite soft and the main problem was making sure it didn't buckle when refitting.

  7. When I removed one, I used a large hose clip, to prevent the bezel from deforming too much. It did help, take it real slow.

  8. Hi Desmo - what make and colour paint did you use?
