Crankcase Breather With Airbox Removed For Pod Filters

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by HYPERBIMDUKE, Aug 27, 2020.

  1. Hi

Looking to remove the airbox on my hyper evo & go velocity stacks with pod filters & I'm wondering what are the consequences for crankcase breathing & pressure venting to atmosphere via a small K & N on the end of the pipe where it went into the airbox?
Does the change in crankcase pressure affect oil consumption in any way?

    Any thoughts welcome

  2. When people change to the CCW long range fuel tank using POD filters we haven't had any adverse comments from customers regarding the running of their bikes if that helps... what do you mean by velocity stacks and POD filters, is it not one or the other?

  3. OK, that sound reassuring, stacks & K&NS

  4. I think @comfysofa has done that conversion.

  5. Yep - did mine years ago....no - doesnt burn any oil atall (not that i know of anyway...)

  6. In day to day terms, there's little in it. By ditching the breather system, technically it affects the crankcase pressure/vacuum but not as you'd notice.
A side effect, and my own personal issue, is that if the motor does breath heavy, you can get oil deposits on the rear tyre. This isn't good and on the older bikes, back in the day when this was a popular mod, I saw a few people come off. If you're going down that route, try and run the filter up and out of the way on a hose, maybe even into a catch tank.
