Like it says in the title; noticed it yesterday. Is this an issue that I should be concerned about? Is it about to fail? Will it crap out at an inconvenient time? Should I be claiming it on the warranty from the dealer? It did evaporate after about an hour and it has bee exceptionally wet recently but still... Emailed Piddocks this AM, no reply yet.
Where do you store your bike? If you are really concerned then best get it indoors (the instrument not the whole bike) and sit on a radiator. I ought to remember how to remove one by now but have a suspicion it's not that easy.
In my garage which is as dry as a bone. I've only had the bike for 12 days so I am assuming that it is an issue prior to my owning it.
you could be right, I have two identical instruments and neither have misted in 3 years despite being garaged. Did you ride through torrential rain recently? - that's all it takes. I have constant misting after rain etc on early Multistradas and so constantly detach and dry out as a precaution.
This was an issue with the 848/1098 from new. A lot of people had them changed by Ducati under warranty There were a lot of threads about this back in the day. Never cured by Ducati Mine mists at times has done for a long time my 1098 has done 33,000 miles Its something you will have to live with A guy on a US forum claimed to have cured his by drilling one or 2 tiny holes in the case to let it "breath" they get very hot inside
They already have a vapour breather (you probably know) with three holes dispersed 60° and one at the top, (WLTTE) but no fluid drain at lowest point.
Ride through torrential rain?! No, I've only been out on her for 3 hours in nearly two weeks. I tend not to ride in the rain as I can't be arsed cleaning all my stuff afterwards and I don't like being cold and wet! I could do the removal and dry option as long as its not too much of a faff. Whats the procedure for that? My main concern is that it deteriorates and craps out and I get hit for the bill. If its a known problem then the dealership that sold it to me should foot the bill for repair/replacement. If its a minor issue and does not affect the performance of the unit then I don't mind living with it, I do expect a certain amount of compromise on a 2nd had 12 year old bike; if I didn't I 'd never ride my KTM!
it is a faff, just had a look. Riding the bike in the dry would clear it but failing that.. hair dryer on low setting etc? i'm loathe to recommend this as not foolproof. I use a 5 Watt anti-condensation unit under a heavy duty bike cover through the winter*.
It will mist up regardless of the weather you ride in. I've never heard of one failing because of it Mine has been like it for most of its 33k. It can be inconvenient especially in bright sunlight making it difficult to read all the info on the dash I've never had trouble seeing the 2 important bits Temp and speed It will end up being something you have to put up with
