Currently owned a Kawasaki zx6r that I know longer ride on the road, track day use only! I was quite contempt and never imagined owning another bike, well that was until a 1998 Ducati Biposto 916 popped up on my facebook page for sale.. A week later I am now the owner of a 916! I'm still in the planning stages on how far to go with tidying her up. So far I will be having all of the main fairings and tank sprayed due to a few marks and scratches, Not sure what to do with the main frame, It has a few marks so it's either a full spray job or try and touch the worse bits up.. Also need to decide on whether I keep the after market exhaust or stick the oem back on, either way I need to sort out the correct mounting bolts rather than the bodge ones on it. Hi, it’s your bike so make it how you want it whether that’s returned to standard or a bit (or lot) blinged up. Many owners when adding/improving/personalising their bikes keep the original parts so it can be returned to stock should the need arise. The frame isn’t that bad and can easily be touched up (RS Paints), the exhausts are fine (would be handy if you have the originals with it). Loads of bikes have carbon fibre on them. Be mindful that a full respray of the bike may cause a future prospective purchaser to think it’s been down the road. Also, make sure you can replicate exactly the decals, they were different year to year. If it were mine Id just get the lower fairing half and mirrors resprayed; if you lose the non- original decals on the lower fairing it’s no hardship. Alternatively you can leave it as is, age related patina, we’ve all had or got scuffs from garage walls or dropping it whilst stationary
Got to disagree with WCPaul, that frame damage looks terminal so I can do you a favour and take it off your hands for free, I'd even pick it up to save you the effort Looks like a great bike as is so best of luck with what you decide

I don’t think a picture of your beautiful 916 beside only a watering can and a large plant pot is going to make Ducbird happy. I suggest you wheel it over to where the bins are and take some pictures there.
Was hoping to get the rear sub frame and exhaust cans off tonight but lack of tools stopped play. Now waiting for a 46mm socket and a spring puller.. do decided to remove the radiator and pipe work. Also found a bodge job with the wiring of the front and rear indicators, not sure why this was done but it's going to need a tidy up.. Jamie
Great weekend working on the bike, thankfully only two bolts left that hold the engine in. Saturday was a nightmare trying to free up the lower shock pivot bolt, so far its beaten me and remains stuck... Good news on Sunday is that the swingarm bolt came straight out with no dramas.. Plan is to get the frame powder coated and then put it in storage whilst I break the engine
So far the shocks have been restored and the correct Tops fitted with the aftermarket bits removed. The main frame, sub frame and wheels have all been repainted. This work has all been carried out by JHP Ducati Coventry.. Jamie
