I'm Beating Brain Damage!

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by PerryL, Sep 3, 2020.

  1. When I do my morning exercise cycle (which the bar steward physio has made much harder) I listen to music from my phone to a Bluetooth speaker.

Well, it would not work this morning and so I was planning to bin the phone (which is only a few months old) and bin Android as it is all sh1t and it should be simple to play music on my phone.

And my exercise bike is annoying me just because it exists!

So, a great deal of destruction was planned! The door window right in front of my exercise bike was first on my long list!

And then I realised that the phone worked perfectly, if I just used Google to play the music. The phone works perfectly.

So I am calm and nothing smashed up!

  2. You sound like me some mornings, what happened to you if you don't mind me asking?

  3. Glad to read the end result Perry, your post was like a much concised thriller! I just bought a secondhand indoor bike trainer myself but it's no good for me sadly and just confirmed that only a better, far more expensive one will do.

  4. Mine was bought for me under the rehabilitation code but I got to choose it! It was about £200, I think. The instructions are in Romanian! I worked it out though - without understanding a word of Romanian!!!

  5. I was riding home from work on my Monster S4r in March 2019. A prison officer pulled out on me from Leyhill Open Prison and I smacked in her car. I don't remember any of it but she alway admitted fault and was prosecuted for driving without due care and attention - 6 points! I never saw the bike again and my insurance company paid out on it. Most of my clothing was burnt as it was covered in blood, apparently. All that was waiting for me when I got home was my boots!

I dislocated both my shoulders and my left elbow. I also broke my left shoulder. I had my left hip replaced and metal pins put in my left leg. Oh yes, and a head injury causing a brain bleed. My brother has the x-ray on his phone and can always get it out if we need a laugh!

I closed the road for 12 hours and was operated on for 10!

Also, I had to inform DVLA of the brain bleed and that has opened a can of worms! I was meant to go for a driving assessment that would involve an eye test. I tried to help by going to my local optician for an eye test. I failed and he refereed me to Gloucester Hospital for a more through eye examination. That appointment was cancelled when Gloucester became the local covid centre and they cancelled all non-urgent appointments. Then I was sent to Cheltenham Hospital and they concluded that the brain bleed had affected my optic nerve connection to my brain. That was after a previous appointment in Dursley Hospital. The last Optomotrist that I saw, thought that I could pass the DVLA test. I wrote to DVLA to ask to be sent for the eye test and they have started with a "never heard of you" thing and sent me the form to apply for a first driving license. They rejected that form because I never sent in a photograph. So, I have now sent them a photograph and a rude letter!

I wait to see what happens next!

  7. It's just weird! The prison officer's insurance company, Hastings, are still denying any liability even though their driver has been prosecuted. My solicitor has put my file on hold whilst we find out about my driving licence. I said that if DVLA don't unban me , then I want zanouther £100,000 at least added to my claim!

My solicitor is not surprised by this at all. It is all that she does and I would think that Hastings would know that they are in the sh1t and seek to settle rather than drag things out. God knows what my sol charges but she is a partner in a large practice and has about 10 people working for her. Hasting will know that just the legal fees will run into tens of thousands that they will pay for. But they seem happy to drag it out!

  8. That is pretty shit but on the positive if they say you could pass the DVLA test then that's one positive and your alive is a second one i guess(Not all the time though;)), the thing that always gets me is the fucking low sentences if you can call it that, that they get!!
I had a big one in 2016 May 21st a saturday coming home from a 8 hour night shift and looking forward to Motogp warm ups and qualifying, as i was riding down this long road near to where i lived at the time and see a car swerve on the right side of the road to the wrong side then i see a car on the wrong side heading for me so i slowed and he went over to the correct side so i continued and at the last minute he came over to my side and i had nowhere to go(there was a bollard to my right and a car parked on the pavement) so i aimed for his left headlight head on, next thing i'm on the pavement on my right side and couldn't move.
Anyway he smashed both my elbows broke my pelvis broke 3 vertebrae took a huge chunk of flesh out of my right buttock (i know funny), punctured my left lung, i was in a coma for two days and had two blood transfusions because they couldn't find where a bleed was coming from and then near on a month in hospital 2 months in a wheelchair, then shit loads of physio and the worthless excuse for a piece of shit that was drunk got 13 months, and the thing that really pisses me off he totaled my c90 Cub my workhorse and it was slightly tweaked;).
But on a positive i was back on my 900ie for a 200 mile ride and got a load of compo but i would like my right leg back, i have permanent nerve damage so can't really feel my leg and foot.
But as they say shit happens and you just have to make the best of a shit deal and hope you get your license back soon.:upyeah:

  14. I've got a hospital appointment in two weeks. Gonna ask if I can get copies of my x-rays!

I'm thankful that I never hurt my back. Don't know how because I must of done a spectacular cartwheel over the bike! My jacket did have a back protector and so, maybe, it worked!

Just need to keep up with the physio and be patient about getting my compensation...
