Hi all, just bought a 600 monster 2001 mettalic couple of questions please as I work round the bike checking things. the rear shock - is there a standard setting for the top screw collars please? amount of thread showing perhaps?? and which is a good engine oil to use - the book seems to suggest 20-50 which I'm happy to use - but the book came with the bike in 2001 and I am sure oil has progressed since then. thank you
Can't help you with the shock but oil hasn't really progressed since 2001, use a good quality oil that fits the spec. Ducati usually recommend Shell oil (due to sponsorship) and you won't go wrong with it, many use Motul but stick with the road spec as race spec oils don't have the same additives
Regarding the rear shock set it as suits you, the higher up the rear end is the quicker the bike will turn, Motul 7100 15/50 fully synthetic is favoured by many, but as already said any premium brand will be fine.
