I don’t get the mileage fetish either, and tbf reading the articule in full, he doesn’t, but just did it for the hell of it. Given the sort of bikes I ride, a couple of hundred a day is my limit and I’d rather be a member of the mile high club than a member of the high miles club.
I was thinking of this and have seen some YouTube videos. Some of the roads look pretty shite, where you would be lucky to avg 40mph. And it is many single track roads with CYCLISTS!!! Looks like Hell on Earth, the bits I've seen!!!
Depends on the time of year you go, may/June between school holidays and before midge season starts usually has good weather
