I've just seen on Facebook that The Rev Counter forum has closed (or whatever you want to call it) after many years, which is very sad as it was great online community back in the day. Seems that a few trolls finally chased all the good guys away, which eventually led to its demise. Sad.
The community moved over to this site; https://revtothelimit.co.uk/ And this one like here, could do with the occasional £12 per year donation.
Better in that there’s a lot less aggro, but worse in that Speakers’ Corner is a lot less active and less entertaining (in the sense that gladiatorial games were entertaining) than it used to be. I also continue to maintain that the block function is silly, plus it also makes some threads unintelligible and because someone who doesn’t like me also posts quite a lot of funny stuff in the random pic thread, I have to log out I order to properly enjoy it
Yeah it's all such a long time ago now! Had some great weekends, back in the day. Since I moved North a few years back I am well-placed for biking roads; the Peak District/Moors, the Lakes, and North Wales/Snowdonia are all within easy reach.
Never heard of revcounter, dont suppose I ever will now. This forum is way OK, I have enjoyed my time to date on here and its good for banter and for info...also good for the odd bitch and moan too I run forums (well down to just one now) and loads of FB pages for different stuff. I never had any issue on any of 'em with trolls. I don't lay down rules and threats, everyone just behaves themselves. Am I the exception here lol ?
I agree. Speakers Corner is not the same anymore, like you I used to enjoy the battles. Some of the forum characters are also not about anymore. People get offended way too easily.
Don't you think they went/disappeared because of all the abuse and insults others threw around under the guise of "banter"?
