Raised 50mm Clip Ons

  1. Does anyone have a nice set of the above with a 1.5-2.5" raise to fit my 900 Superlight? My arthritis is disagreeing with the 1" rise ones that I have... :confounded:

    Cheers!

  2. @Coose I cant help with the clip ons but I suffer a little with arthritis too, these are a few things that help me :-

I dont have a quick shifter but do clutchless changes whenever possible. Easy on the way up, less so on the way down.
Fit Grip Puppies or similar. I`ll try to avoid any single entendres but extra girth is good ! It keeps your hand more open which should help. Also they are soft grips and reduce vibration.
    Heated grips and heated gloves.
A full tank bag can help too as its something to lean on. Mind you dont crush your Gauloises though.

  3. Ha ha, thank you! :joy:

It's my right wrist and neck more than anything, where like most sufferers I have good days and bad. I do classic track days on a sorted KR-1, where some days I can do full sessions and others I can maybe last 15 minutes maximum.

My SL had Harris clip-ons under the top yoke when I bought it, where I've since fitted a pair with about an inch of lift which has helped but I could do with going a little higher. The standard bars have maybe 2" of lift but I don't have these and they're horrible steel things anyway.

There are a couple of options from Woodcraft etc. which I've been looking at, but I thought if anyone was tripping over a pair before I bite the bullet and buy new...?

The clutch is as light as a feather so that isn't a problem, I just could do with being a little more upright.

  4. Hi Coose,

The "Horrible Steel" clip-ons on all of my Ducati's are lighter than any alloy ones that I've weighed!

  5. Thanks Steve, they're just not easy on the eye like a nice set of ali ones.

A good friend of mine (who has an 1198) makes a very good point in that it's always nice to have anything that's in the line of sight to be aesthetically pleasing. It's similar to my principle in that all controls need to be slick and correctly set. :)

  6. I fitted Gillies adjustable bars to a 900ssie some years ago, they definitely helped and may be worth a go.
