Which Tracker

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by freshage, Sep 18, 2020.

  1. Looking to get a top notch tracker fitted to the Multi I've just ordered, any inputs on which is best? I personally don't care much for checking where it is on my phone as that's just asking me to check it every 5 minutes. Just that it can be tracked for 48+ hours by the constabulary.

  2. Bike Trac are I believe the only company to offer a 24/7 manned, monitoring centre but it isn’t cheap. Subscription packages come in 1, 2 or 3 years and the 3 year was about £300 over the purchase price of the unit. There are several threads about trackers on the forum including one about a £50 SIM based self install unit from eBay. I have used Bike Trac continuously since 2012. Andy

  3. I have https://biketrac.co.uk/ installed by Ducati dealer on my Panigale. Phone App is called All Trac and works well, also shows your battery voltage real time. Running costs £9.99 p/m
Haven’t had to use it thankfully !

  4. Biketrac looks great! Thanks guys.

  5. Biketrac for me too. The App also shows maps of all your routes historically which is quite nice.

  6. Balls... I was hoping this was free stock market advice.:blush::yum

  7. yep got Biketrac

  8. Yeah Biketrac came with the GT as part of the Ducati promotion.

Works well, I have on a couple of occasions forgotten to put it in service mode when moving the bike with the ignition switched off, this was picked up straight away by Biketrac, they called almost immediately, answer a couple of security questions and they reset the system / cancel the alert etc.

    So far it's been great.

  9. Like the others I have a Biketrac fitted to my Multistrada. Took out three year subscription on purchase. No complaints, it works well the few times I've tested it inadvertently by moving the bike with the ignition off.

There are two modes in terms of triggering. Movement or proximity. With my bike parked outside and down the side of my house neither are perfect as storm conditions can trigger it. Due to the location there is also some GPS drift so proximity mode occasionally has it outside the default distance. Setting the 'ring' to a slightly greater size has stopped that happening. Moving to a house with a garage next week so that'll be resolved. Not a problem with the unit as such, more the technology. Most users shouldn't have this issue.

  10. Thread moved

  11. I have Datatool Trakking fitted, fortunately never used in anger.
However a few times I have moved a bike without the ignition on, or disconnected the battery,
Scorpion (the company that monitors the tracker) have called me straight away.
I can also check the bikes location on my phone.
About £250 to fit and £99 a year for monitoring

  13. Also got a BikeTrac. Never let me down. Also has an alert mode if you crash or drop the bike. They call you first and then will contact someone for you if you log a contact with them (I originally had my wife but took it off as I don’t want her knowing about any little ‘offs’)

It was great when the bike was on the autotrain and I could turn it on and check where it was in the morning

  14. I have a biketrack on the scrambler. Great thing I think. I've tested it about 20 times by moving the bike without the ignition on and had a call from em every time within a few minutes...
It also has a bike down function which was tested in Italy when I fell asleep on the side of the road next to my bike and it got knocked over...Great idea for a solo tourer. . Not falling asleep on the side of the road, the bike down thingy....

  17. I don't get this so can someone explain to me? If I got a bike nicked then I don't want it back - I'll take the insurance money. Is the main point to STOP in getting nicked in the first place? I've never left any bike in any dodgy place where I worry about it. People do, then?

  18. I’m afraid if it gets nicked and you get it back, you don’t have a choice. But your bike/car or whatever, will go on the register as stolen recovered. And will be worth ~40% less.

  19. Bikes get taken from garages - thats not really a dodgy place.....ive got a tracker on mine - if so much as a gust of wind hits it my phone lights up....assuming im close by (which i normall am) ill be on it faster than any copper (im pretty sure). My mate had his crosser nicked. He recovered it without calling the plod and visited the house where it was held (in the garage). I think the bloke got out of his mouth "what fucki...." before he was knocked on his arse. Bike was recovered unscathed from the garage. So in esence a if a tracker goes off and you can get to it in time...it'll save you a lot of cash.

  20. I used to park my bike in Soho everyday for work, I would know if the bike got moved.

I’ve not heard of a register of stolen/ returned bikes which would make it worth 40% less? I agree if it’s dragged out of ditch though.

A lot of bikes nicked in London would often just be pushed round the corner and left for 24 hrs to see if they had a tracker fitted, then the crooks didn’t lead the police to their lock up which probably have had a bunch more bikes. So this made them much easier to recover quickly and with little fuss.
