Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by johnny, Sep 25, 2020.

  1. Can a wrench do this,
I would have thought that i need at least a torque wrench upto 600mm long or an inpact wrench
    Suggestions please

  2. Yep a torque wrench that can go up that far.

  3. Let me google that for you...

  4. Yes it can, I have one to do the front wheel bearing nuts on my Discovery that goes above that.
And yes it's a long one!

However you might find you'll only find one in 1" drive.

    Nasher.

  5. I've got a 0 - 300 Nm 1/2" drive wrench so easily available, bought for rear wheel bearing on my old Lexus

  6. Yep, I have one if those too, Beta tools I believe. Works in both directions too.

  7. Thanks everyone, i have see 1/2" drives at 600mm long going to 300nm i just wondered if it could be done manually. I see 200 mm version too which I think would be very difficult to do !

  8. What do you mean manually?

  9. I think mine is about 20" long but not hard to generate that torque from memory with that kind of extension

  10. what are you doing up a wheel nut?

  11. Flywheel

  13. That's the type I have. It's not hard to get to max torque on it provided the part you do up is held still properly. So a wheelnut is easy to do if the wheel doesn't move. Rear axle nut on a stand on your own is a bit of a challenge. Doable though.

  14. Sorry, yes I meant 1/2" not 1".
Instead of the more usual 3/8"

    Nasher.

  15. Mine. All Teng.

  19. Thanks all i thought the maybe it could only be done with a power inpact drive. I guess they would not sell them if they did not but they sell Harleys and motorbikes ;-)
