Looking for recommendations for decent quality but inexpensive (Not cheap & nasty,) thermostatic shower mixer valve and overhead rainfall/waterfall discharge for the shower in our guests bathroom. The hot and cold water are both mains pressure with high flow rates and I’m intending to conceal the pipes in a stud wall behind tiling.
I have bar type thermostatic mixer valves. 2 cheap ones, screw fix 22 quid or so and one more expensive one. I find no difference. It's the limescale that kills them after about 5 years with our very hard water.
Fitted many brands over the years and a big fan & agree with post #2,also with good customer service backup, but don't forget the Triton range.
I shall take a look at Aqualisa. I don’t need an electric shower as I don’t have a convenient power supply, plus there’s always 210 litres of hot water in the unvented hot water cylinder in the loft just above. I think that rules out Triton. We have plenty of limescale, so the Screwfix disposable option may make sense @Akorenika A future plan is a water softener too, though I shall need to strip out the cupboards under granite work surface and the sink to separate an unsoftened supply to the cold tap and the garden tap. Any suggestions for softeners to use/avoid?
The quartz digital aren’t electric showers, either gravity fed (pressure fed) or pumped. The thermostatic control and on off are electric. Brilliant showers.
I agree completely . You can strip them down when they start misbehaving , and try to get rid of the limescale ..... clean up the O-rings etc , but it's pretty much the beginning of the end . What really pees me off is that a new cartridge assembly ( if you can source one ) is usually more expensive than an entire new shower unit !! Such a wasteful world .....
I used to fit Aqualisa but had many fail on their poor quality Not fit nothing but Hansgrohe thermostatic valves and risers these days. Had no bother so far.
Hans Grohe or Grohe, different companies but both very good, used them for many years, superb quality, has no competition really.
