Reg/rec On 748

  1. sup my peoples?
Been faffing with the 748 yesterday and I noticed the head light gets brighter when I increase the revs, also he indercators blink quickly ( like when 1 bulb is blown) at idle but at normal speed when revs are increased.
    I'm thinking this is a reg/rec thing?
Put a new one on 10 years back as it caught fire but obviously its not new no more.. thoughts?

  2. Make sure battery fully charged first - if battery low it will do that anyway

  3. Even though the reg/rec is 10 years old it hasn’t been used has it so I’m unsure why it would be fried .

Increasing headlamp bulb brightness with increasing revs would seem to indicate an increasing voltage but the indicators blinking quickly at idle and slowing to norm when revs rise is perplexing. As Brettski says check the battery first.

  4. New battery and fully charged. The reg/rec was put in 10 (ish) years ago and has about 15k miles on it since

  5. I didn’t think you’d used that bike that much, my bad :worried:

    Reg/rec?

  6. Get a meter on it C, check after leaving overnight before starting, then check after start-up at idle, then check with raised revs. Et cetera (WLTTE)

  7. Regulator rectifier. Yea I aint used the bike at all in the last 3 years after crashing it but I racked up some miles on it prior to that , about 5k of those was after I rebuilt it. Took that bike to Isle of mann an stuff. Love that bike

  8. I must buy a meter and learn how to use it!
What do you think would cause the symptoms I describe? I would have thought it the reg as isn't that what maintains the correct voltage?

  9. It’s been covered enough times on here chizel! With fairing off on battery side, after you’ve had the bike running a while and you are still getting the fast indicators (the indicators are standard aren’t they?) find the two connector plugs, one for the regulator, one for the alternator (two or three yellow wires) and see if they are warm when holding.
