Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Nasher, Sep 23, 2020.

  1. There's just no pleasing some folks in life.:worried:

  2. How does the other side look?

  3. I know which one I prefer: the one with the conventional swing arm!

  4. Yep that's nice, but still prefer a twin sider.
I used a GPz1100 arm in my Z1000H. Oh how I miss that bike.

  5. Benefits of single-siders AFAIC:

1a) Shows off rear wheel better
1b) Makes cleaning rear wheel easier
    2) Single-sided paddock stand is a lot more stable and reliable than many double-sided types
    3) Likewise, chain adjustment is simpler and more positive.

  6. Although you have to reset ride height after chain adjustments.

  9. The use of the SSA in endurance racing was an HRC thing on the RC30.

Tamburini just drew inspiration from a design perspective. With trick quick release setups even single siders in endurance racing are non existent now.

Don’t get me wrong wayne, i love ducati but I’ll drink a cup of my own piss the day the factory supports an endurance racing effort.
They know better than to trust their chocolate internals and farleys rusk rs engine internals to go head to head with the might of suzuki SERT and yamaha YEC.

but back to the original topic... I much prefer the bifurcated arm. I don’t dislike a single sider, but a well engineered bifurcated arm will always be the better choice, and also has greater options for that lovely brutal functionality look with all the trick stuff going on visually.

  13. Well there was a Ducati in the Le Mans 24hr this year, and last weekend a Ducati entered in the Estoril 12hr, but it never started, I think it was crashed in practice and the frame damaged, so was out, both televised here in NZ, both part of the Enduro World Series.

  14. Agree and thanks for that @Sev, like you say the single sided is non existent in endurance and what with the quick release systems in place now, who needs single sided?

  15. There was a V4R team at the Le Mans 24 hour last month that was 6th at one point but they retired at some point and i don't know why, i was watching on Eurosport but it keeps cutting away too tennis and crap!!

They generally fail due to the bike just not being able to handle the demands of endurance racing. Ducati Corse have been so focused on WSB that they wouldn't understand the abuse an endurance racer needs to go through, so it's privateer teams making do as best they can. A lot of them still build endurance bikes as they would a regular race bike, making them far too fragile, whereas the endurance racer needs to take so much more abuse and still survive. All that said however, its still a noble effort - the one below finished 56th.

I know, infuriating. Smacking a ball or all of the awesomeness that is nighttime Stoner

In endurance if the bike doesn't shit itself, then the real enemy is the rider!

  17. I used to hate endurance racing but absolutely love it now probably an age thing:laughing: and yes the pilot and the greatest enemy TIME, it reminds me of test cricket, 5 days and it can come down to the last over or even the last delivery!!

  18. My love of endurance racing came from the Bol at Paul Ricard years ago. The whole thing just blew my mind. During the night (when the French seriously party), I could go to the top of the pit building and look down at pit stops -brilliant! I even got taken to the main medical centre once, where I shared with seriously messed up crashed racers. When thy threw me out, it was into the restricted pit area. That was when Honda Britain and Ron Haslam were racing. I could of wandered into the Honda garage - but I think that they would of told me to F.Off!

I don't do Sky, or BT Sport, but I will investigate any coverage that I can get on my PC next year if they have any!

  19. Wasn’t a Pani due to be at the TT this year? Would have been interesting to see if it made it to the finish.
