Saw this programme called Critical on Chann 5 .. An incredible documentary.. Boy was it powerful.. On there it followed this lovely old guy 80 yr old I think and interviewed him etc .. He had a split or bulge in his Aorta and had been told either he took the risk of surgery or he could risk living on but knowing if it burst they would not be able to save him.. He decided rather than have his Wife worrying if he was about to collapse at some point and die he would have the opp.. The TV crew went with him into surgery and he chatted with his surgeon as they put him under about how he would have been riding his electric bike that day if it wasn’t for the opp.. 8 hrs into the opp they were struggling to get to the tear and the Surgeon asked for his fellow surgeon friend to take a look. Every time they switched off the machines and re started his heart the bleeding started again, so much so that they decided he would not survive the opp etc and they decided it best to stop.. So sad seeing such a fit looking guy so upbeat about things being put to sleep only to never wake again.. Also felt so sorry for the devastated Surgeon too, how to you carry on with your work schedule after losing someone in that way? Incredible two guys... X
