1260 Puig Touring Screen

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Bumpkin, Sep 10, 2018.

  1. Go short, it worked for me, the puig sport screen is great.
5.11 gets a bit windy for the wife at 70 plus
I chopped down the original screen until i felt happy

  2. i have a puig sport screen for a 2015 multi charcoal fade, still in original packaging.
left it too long to send it back
    any good to anyone

  3. Thanks for your feed back
Would it be possible to post a picture of the bike with the std screen and the spacers ??

  4. Will hopefully find the time to revert to the OEM screen tomorrow, will take pics and post them here.

I hasten to add that these are my findings. 6' tall, seat in high position, Shoei GT Air. You may be the same proportions with the same kit and still get a different result.

Whilst some might want to get the perfect set-up and then not move the screen I prefer the option to raise the screen for sustained faster riding (dual carriageways and motorways) but then be able to lower it for slower riding (B roads, around town) for better airflow in warm weather.

Got to say that I'm slightly disappointed that there doesn't seem to be as satisfying solution to this on the Multistrada as the one I found on my MV Tourismo Veloce with the Puig touring screen, that was a nigh on perfect solution for me.

  5. Here we go:

The Touratech screen (now returned and this morning received refund minus £4 for their P&P, fair enough)

Here are a few of the standard screen with Jamie's spacer kit. This is probably what I'm going to settle on. Not ideal but the best set-up I've found so far.

  6. Thanks, much appreciated

  7. Thanks for trying and testing the Touratech screen... shame it was not the perfect solution...

  8. I do have a Puig Sport screen, that I bought off Bradders, that I've yet to try.

  9. I have tried a few screens & this is by far the best. I am 6 feet tall, medium build. The adjustable blade at the top can be altered to find best effect for yourself. MRA Vario.

  10. My DVT came with a tinted Ducati touring screen, which is slightly higher than stock, same desgn though. Total height 550mm. Buffeting and wind noise were really bad.

I ride with the seat in the lower position as i am 5'7".

I tired the spacers which made no difference, apart from steepening the angle of the screen slightly so that it hindered my vision.

Earlier this week i borrowed a friends Puig Sport screen (with spacers still fitted). The Puig is 440mm high. Right from setting off i could feel the turbulent air coming over the top of the screen into my face. This is at 20mph. However it was a lot better than the original screen. At 70mph the turbulence was vibration my Helmet slightly. I lifted the screen into the high position and this seemed better.

On my way home i removed the spacers and so this meant the Puig Sport screen was fitted as it was designed. In the low setting immediately the low speed turbulence was gone that i had felt with the spacers fitted. At 70mph there was a little turbulence, liveable though and not too bad at all. I then straightened my back and sat bolt upright, the turbulence was completely gone. Just smooth air. That extra 1/2" meant i had minimal air on my chest, and smooth airflow past my helmet. Brilliant!

    So i guess my options are;

    a) Grow an inch taller
    b) Set seat in high position
    c) get a slightly shorter screen

So i'll be going with option "C" then!

The difference that the spacers seem to make is that they set the angle of the screen slightly higher, this then alters the view you have of the road ahead (less) and the way the air comes off the top of the screen with be different also. I realise that from some this is better, for me however with two different screens they have made the situation worse. I will be trying them with a smaller screen however, just in case they improve the situation in that instance. IMG_5258.JPG IMG_6916.JPG

  11. Funny how the multi encourages shorter riders as much as tall ones. Goes to show just how easy it is to manage and how perfectly weighted it is given its size.

  12. I have a smoked puig sport screen & clear Givi touring screen that are just about to go on fleabay if anyone’s interested. Both for 2015+ dvt

  13. Holy thread revival batman! I'm looking for suggestions, I'm 6'2", have the seat height gubbins installed as it was too low for me without. However, the wind hitting the helmet is terrible on motorways. The airflow starts at chin level I'd say, on my old 1200S I had a PUIG with the adjustable top part as well and it worked wonders.

I'm wondering if anyone with the same height as me has a solution for the 1260? I generally don't do small rides so it it's a bit of an eye sore, I'm not fussed over functionality.

  14. Just ordered an MRA vario screen, friend has one and swears by it and is a similar 6ft4 height as me so have high hopes for it

  15. Take the screen off and go for a ride, lots of wind on the body but no buffeting on the head.
I cut my original screen down a couple of times before i settled on a puig sport screen.
Go low, it worked for me.

  16. I have one on the monster, bearing 8n mind there was not one there before.
    It is a definite improvement.

  17. Just ordered the MRA Vario, not sure it will work with the Evotech quad lock GPS mount as I put my phone in portrait mode and it's a chunky boi.

Where can I buy the screen spacers?
