I've just got back from a failed attempt at the post office to post a small package to the US. I usually avoid the Post Office as much as possible, sending parts etc within the UK via Hermes. And anything I've sold on EBAY recently that's gone abroad has gone via the EBAY Global shipping programme. But, I've a small package to send to the US via this forum, so looked on the PO website and saw a tracked and Signature required service at 5-7 working days for @£9 so thought I'd go with that. Lady behind the counter says No. She told me that if I look on the PO website, and I have now checked, there is a note saying that currently all service guarantees are suspended. What the website doesn't say, is that the 5-7 day service is currently taking 8 weeks!, yes, 8 weeks. I've looked on Hermes international and been quoted £29 for a 7 day service. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get something to the states in a reasonable time at the moment for under £20? Thanks Nasher
If you pm the package dimensions, weights and delivery address I`ll get a price for you using our company DHL account.
I use the Post Office to the USA regularly - some packages are not moving from Heathrow for a month due to the lack of passenger flights taking mail. I think they get stuck in a pile and forgotten until the mountain diminishes enough - no first in first out as some are taking 5 to 7 days still.
