1260 Boot/clothing Rub To Engine Casing

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by 999nutta, Oct 10, 2020.

  1. Hi.
I have noticed on the right hand side some black marks to the lower engine case. Most probably from my textiles rubbing against the hot metal.
Does anyone know how to get them off?

  2. It is bad quality Ducati painting and it is scratched paint, not leftovers from boot. I got the same and asked Ducati to
Change that part (clutch cover) under warranty.
They did and now it is fine (I also changed the boots so maybe this ones are more gentle)

  3. Mine looked like this after about 800 miles.

My dealer had the engine casing replaced as a goodwill gesture by Ducati.

  4. Mine isn't that bad...yet. how have you stopped it happening again?

  5. Try sticking some Helicopter tape to the casting.. (Thin film tank protector)

On my first Multi - this worked well.... on the second one - the casting was too rough and it would not stick..

  6. Mine is too rough. Nothing will stick

  7. There is a cover you can buy - that bolts over - not tried it myself.

  8. One of these.

  11. you need some HS8671

Cut to shape and if gets dirty just cut another bit, been using on several Multis and it has always stuck fast so far.
