@portboy I would find it frustrating as a motorist crash victim or other for that matter waiting for the rescue crew to carry out their risk assessment on me....why can't they just get on with it.
Virgin supply only 100Mbps broadband to me -no TV programing or sports. It cost just over £20 pcm. I couldn't tell you if the speed promised is accurate, but it does everything I need it to seamlessly. It has never broken down in four years, no outages whatsoever. Just as importantly when wankers destroy my connection, Virgin engineers revamp the cabling & connection to get me back on the net within 48hrs, including tarmac repairs to the drive. Outstanding!
I've got to agree with you Vulcanman, whenever i see real-life action on the screen they do seem to fvck around a lot before releasing the victim. Probably for good reason though.
Sometimes just rolling up your sleeves for many basic accidents is the tried and tested method for decades,but i do agree on the more serious get me out of jail headaches is required.
It is often strange/funny how things work out for the best, and frequently when you are least expecting it. This has been the case for me on at least two occasions when I was in a similar situation. Stay positive (as you sound) and, I agree, don’t make big financial decisions unless you absolutely have to.

well I thought i'd have a go at aerosol spraying a crankcase cap as that was part of the reason for taking it off. Temperature "iffy" outside but that's where it has to be done so warm up the can in hot water (crankcase cap indoors already). Out I go, spraying away/enjoying it, and then i'm reminded of what happens when everything gets too cold as paint not drying quickly enough for a 5th or 6th pass, i.e. the "runs" (the paint, not me) - should have stopped 2 minutes earlier, never mind. It's still far better than it was and am not getting into flatting down and respraying at my age.

I’ve just been naughty (but it was worth it) and finished it off in the boiler room, paint was drying almost on contact but still achieving gloss, very pleased.
I’m just monitoring the “pinging” and will decide how to play it in the next 24-48 hours. So far it’s pinged 9 times since 1pm.
