  15. Would be interesting to know if you owned one (not bought from them) and had a problem/spares would they help you out.

  16. I spent a bit of time with the team during the 2005 season when Gaz McCoy was riding for them. Loads of DNF’s that season and a persistent oil leak that culminated in a big crash for Gaz at imola where he hurt his back and told me he’d had enough of it. I don’t think he rode the bike again after that.
There always seemed to be plenty of money about for hospitality etc and I’m sure Fogarty did very well out of the project but he lost interest when it wasn’t competitive and didn’t turn up at a couple of rounds preferring to watch Blackburn Rovers instead.
I’d be very nervous about buying one to use but they would make a cracking ornament !

  17. I love the look, the colour, the sound, I wished it would have succeeded I really do. But it's only 'special' because of the politics that surround it, nothing really about it is groundbreaking other than maybe trying a reverse cylinder, which has been done before. The forks for example are Ohlins R&T off the shelf, same for wheels etc.

When you look at the Desmond..... Well, where to start. V4 Engine reverse engineered from a MotoGP engine, you have to think Ducati always had half an eye on doing it but still, it was their first. Secondly, it was so closely based around the GP Bike, 3rd was almost unicorn poo Gas Charged Ohlins suspension... just, loads of things.

  18. I love the desmo’s as well but I never got in to the whole ‘it’s a GP bike’ thing

they’re really cool, and really special.

but if it’s that close to a GP bike it would be much more powerful than it actually is in the real world. Aren’t they realistically less than 160bhp on a sensible dyno ?
