Gasket Problem

Discussion in 'Monster' started by bradders, Oct 24, 2020.

  1. Been fitting system today and had to overcome an issue or two. But now I’m stumped.
Seems the reason the mid pipe that connects to the standard rear cyclones down pipe is that the standard system has this ‘gasket’ fitted that makes the pipe a lot thicker. Any ideas where I can buy one or anything I can use to overcome?

  2. Klarius make all manner of gaskets in this style. Google it, you might find something.
    Here is a example

Failing that look for exhaust gasket rope. Comes in various thicknesses and could work for you as well.

  3. Found a parts diagram, suspect it’s no 2. Never had this before

  8. "item 2" could be the same "gasket" used in the Uglies, the set-up looks identical. I can cross-reference if you like. As said, they require a certain patience to fit/easy to break in the wrong hands, but work ok but almost rely on carbon build-up to eventually work correctly on "older" systems - i.e. to keep MOT man happy. To explain:- they can iniitially leak slightly despite all conditions, bores being intact/undamaged with no excessive carbon etc, but could take a couple of 100 miles before leaking subsides. Prone to problems on the rear cylinder due to water ingress/super annealing etc. I take it you can't re-use the one pictured? a shame, as surface-area-wise, it looks better than above std item although might need a "re-fresh".

  9. Ahhh... Just checked... The s2r 800 doesn't have clamps on the bagpipe... Just push fit... Very loose with the spazzy brillo pad esque things impossible to fit.....

  10. Going to see if I can ease it out

  11. I could be wrong, but looks as though that will come out fairly easily as you have four clamp slots, carefully using some spikey-ended implements, bit by bit, maybe some "gentle" pipe tapping with a hide mallet. :)

  12. I've had a #2; before

  13. If you mean the mesh reinforced lead gasket you can get them on eBay in various sizes. This one might not be the correct size but it’s a starting point and others are shown in the “similar items” below the listing.
