Hi all, I have a hankering and the time to give it a bash. Any advice on types, methods or kits? I've watched a couple of Utubers and it doesn't seem particularly difficult but I need advice on what to buy and where to buy it, and what sort of outlay its going to be. I like beers of all kinds except that dishwater White/wheat/wisse stuff; if that's what its called. I like a nice lager, my current go to cooking lager is San Miguel, nice and citrusy, not too sweet, not to gassy, light and clear; purrfict! It is everything that the swill SWMBO drinks - Budweiser, the Devil's pish, is not. I also like an IPA and a "heavy", 80 shilling, John Smiths, a nice real ale as long as its not too hoppy. Is it easier to lager it first and then try the more complex stuff? Cheers in advance folks. BTD
Ignore @Cream_Revenge Couple of £100 quid should see you set up nicely for all grain brewing. a few peeps on here have good results with the canned syrup kits. But I like the technical side of stuff. 3 main points though! 1 Cleanliness is paramount. 2 Hitting target temperatures is key to success. 3 Patients is A virtue. Give your newly brewed beer time to condition. At least 2 week! 3 is better depending on style of beer. Oh and lager takes a long time and requires low temp fermenting. So stick with ale yeast to start with. any more question I’ll be happy to help (if I can). But right now I’m just getting ready to move house in the morning!!!
