Hi All, pretty sure this has been asked many times. I’m looking to add a little crash protection to the bike so frame sliders, front and rear axle sliders and possibly clutch casing covering (for standard clutch casing on 899) Sato Racing looks a reasonable product but looks like the import tax is gonna kill the purchase. Everyone has said the R&G crash bungs are a nightmare to fit and only dealership can fit them correctly - so I’m asking for a little advise on products, are the R&G that bad to install ? I looking to mount full protection to the frame - let us know what your running with thanks
I fitted R&G ones - they take a bit of time to fit as they connect to multiple places on the crankcase - but i guess thats what makes them good - crashed on them - they worked - can buy individual replacement parts for the bits that need fixing. So i'd say they take time , but not difficult.
The 899 has no frame so tank sides, f/r axel bungs & engine case protection are the normal areas people look to protect.
Yes stator cover and clutch cover are essential, my last track crash broke fairing, tail, right bar, lever and ground down the clutch protector. Couple of small marks on the fork bottom and chain adjuster.
