Evening All Not the usual how do i change to the single sided swing are post, Im looking to swap the swing arm on my 899 due to corrosion (carbon hugger has rubbed through and let water in). ive sourced a good condition arm off the ebay's and im ready to crack on. My concern is i dont have a hoist to lift the bike via the rear subframe, so im looking to put together a large thick wooden plate to lift the bike via the underslung exhaust and spread out the weight rather than a single point on the jack (2 tonne jack so plenty of power to lift it) My concern of course is the exhaust and namely the brackets that hang it, has anyone ever took the weight of the bike on them? it should only be for a short amount of time as i can loosen everything off on its wheels and wack the chain on last.
I've had to replace a rear shock and a centre stand before (not on Ducatis) and I "hung" the bike from the garage roof timbers.
ill double check that i thought the pegs went up over and had kinda discounted them but ill give it a look cheers
that was an idea, but the person who built this shed before i bought the house was mcguiver, so im wary on what it can support
I used a tall step ladder as an A frame from which I ratchet strapped the rear of the bike while the front was held in a wheel chock
all done on jack stands under the rear sets, didnt realise you needed a really long 10mm allen key to get the half shafts out, so lopped the top off an old lidl kit and job done.
