I have documented elsewhere (to a point well past boredom for you all) that when I get some money, recover enough from my injuries, and get my driving license back, I intend to buy myself a new bike. Because there was quite a lot of browsing and brochure downloads, manufacturers have hit on my email address. Today, I got this: I want a bike that I can tour on - not a tourer per se -and the top choice (at the moment) is the Ducati Supersport S (new or nearly new). What I don't get is this "track focused" thing. Aren't we supposed to ride bikes on the road anymore? Or if we do, it mustn't be tarmac but that "exciting" off-road adventure thing - for all manufacturers sell their "Adventure" bikes in countries where it never rains. Is this code for a two finger salute to the UK?
It says "more enjoyment on the road". It's a ultimate spec high speed race bike with lights, if you want comfy and "sporty" then get the Supersport. I don't really see the issue here? Has it not been like this for the last 40 years or so?
Fair enough. I was so busy getting angry that I didn't get to "more enjoyment on the road". I could trote out my getting angry excuses, but I won't. And I've got physio tomorrow where I am set exercises in which I am not allowed to lose my temper! She doesn't use Aprilia ads!!!
I think the thing is with bike sales is that the majority is adventure type bikes from what I understand. Sportsbikes make up such a small % of most manufacturers sales, and seemingly having the latest and greatest and the most amount of BHP / track focussed tech is the thing people apparently want
