  1. I
f I ever need finally convincing that this v4 is simply a mile away from my interest that’s completed it.
Way too much going on in the clocks area, need to look where you’re going, not at all that lot.
Swinging panniers, triumph tried that years ago .. doesn’t work.
Indicators that face the rider next to the mirrors, that should just about blind you at night when you take that last look in your mirror before you turn.
    Cramped.

  2. Blind-spot warning I think.

They've just tired to load this with as much car tech as they can, doesn't work for me. Don't like the styling and other decisions they've made. 2 more years on the extended warranty on my 2018 1260 Mutley and I've never been one to change bikes particularly frequently (the MV was an exception). It'll see me to 2022 at least, hopefully beyond.

  3. It's a definite GS replacement.

I do wonder how many current BMW riders that are prepared to swap brands and give up their shaft drive?

Stupid question: why do panniers need to swivel?

  4. It’s not a stupid question. Whats the benefit of the sideways swivel?

  5. So it can Samba?

  6. Cant imagine any BMW owners prepared to do that. Panniers moving are supposed to allow a smoother in turns transition by weight transfer. Triumph used the same system on their explorer. Having done a fair few thousand miles with the system my opinion was a toss up between completely pointless and the cause of major weave at high speed.
Makes you wonder if these designers / test riders were forced to find a potential solution to a problem. Ill take a bet that this bike will most definitely have high speed stability issues. Its not been fitted for "no reason". Anyone test riding it as a serious consideration to purchase should insist on riding it with panniers fitted and some proper weight in them.

  7. According to the launch video Ducati have sold 110,000 Multistrada’s in 18 years. That averages out to 6111 per year.

Last year BMW sold 59,000 GS’s. Now you know why they’ve made it more like a GS.

  8. Hang on, so those wobbly panniers are a design feature and not a manufacturing fault??

  9. There is so much going on in that fancy dashboard I'm surprised that Ducati didn't incorporate a HUD onto the inside of the screen to keep your eyes on the road !

  10. Its only Euro 4 so they can't sell it as new beyond 31 December. I'm guessing there are a few unsold bikes in the system and they need to sell them.

  11. It's no wonder the roads are disintegrating with that amount of tanks on them.

  12. Millions of hairpins are sold worldwide. Maybe Ducati should get in the hairpin business?

  13. Yeah, Just about. /sarc

  14. If I want a GS, I’ll buy a GS. I’ve had 8 of them, and they are very good bikes. But I don’t want a GS, which is why I bought a Multistrada.

  15. this solves many doubts, decidedly, they have created an enduro maxitrail, it's not my motorcycle.

  16. Still not sure why they would snub those of us who like to haul ass on tarmac; just provide a trim with 17” wheels & a 6” rear wheel & SSSA - it’s not like they aren’t doing it already with the 1260/S and enduro. Is dropping all trim levels but (essentially) one the new marketing strategy? Sounds like they don’t want to have their cake and eat it too...

  17. Those videos look great, if that's what you want to do.
As I said before, it will be a great replacement for the enduro model. They do need to do a version with a bigger tank though, same as the current enduro model and to compete with the GSA.
There are lots of things to like about it, but I'm still holding on for now until I've seen and ridden one, and not expecting to buy just yet.

It's interesting all those videos that the bikes have crash bars and the acesory sump guard.
One thing I want to see is a review where they bin it off road, see just how well it survives.

  18. Later on this evening!!

  19. It was obvious that the press would fawn all over this bike. “Best Ducati ever” though, that’s some quote!

  20. I guess the only thing that’s really surprised me is the dreadful fuel economy.
You expect the journalists to be as they are, (all expenses paid etc) and to be fair out on the road it looks better than the photos. But keeping in mind that the Speedo is in kph I was expecting some more dramatic acceleration, suspension looks nice, although again a little surprised to hear the facility for the bike to back off if it gets into a weave.
Test ride essential, and as I previously suggested it needs to be done with some weight in fitted panniers.
    Ie Real world.
