What Are Your Riding Plans For 2021?

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by El Toro, Nov 29, 2020.

  1. Assuming the world returns to some kind of normality early next year what riding plans do you have for 2021?

I’ve got a trip to Ireland booked in April, planning on doing the NC500 during May, possibly Mugello/Italy at the end of May, planning on doing Wales/Hereford and Worcestershire/Shropshire in July and doing the west coast of Scotland in September.

I’ll be sharing the load between the V2 and the Scrambler :)

So what have you got planned?

  2. Touring full time with theatre shows. Panniers full. Lots more miles on the multi.

  3. 4 days on track at the Circuito de Almeria in May and 9 days touring down to and round the Vercour in France during September. Bike related, Silverstone round of the BSB, MotoGP in Barcelona and Silverstone. Andy

  4. Corsica with the Mrs
Some national parks only half a days riding from me.
    Maybe Spain.
Maybe a motogp back end of year. That might be Spain again..

One day I might do an exotic trip up the NorthWest of Scotland. When I forget about how bad the midges can be. Defo wait for my French driving license for that one. UK being out of EU is bound to have at least one benefit. Better get this one done quick in the gap before the Scots break free and rejoin the EU lol.

  9. Switzerland in late June with a group, then Corsica in September either solo or with the GF (not quite convinced, she may fly in and do part of it).

Also would like to do a Brittany/Normandy long weekend, Roscoff to Le Havre probably, especially if GF can't do Corsica plus the return leg. Her grandfather is buried in a overlord war grave, we need to visit and pay our respects. Chance for nice food, wine, key battlefield sites. Biking isn't that great but it's time away in France on the bike.

  10. Looks good.
Dublins good for the craic, middle Ireland only gets better as you get towards the west.
Westport is good for a night out, then you’re on the WAW up to Sligo!
Donegal’s Sliabh Laig is not to be missed.
If you get the weather there’s no where like it.

  11. @El Toro, is that with the Manchester lot? Might be up for that.
I really want to travel down through Spain to Seville and malaga before the summer.

  12. I was that way in Spain before lockdown
Try to visit Cordoba on the way down.

  14. I avoid Switzerland now. Fantastic passes and roads in the South, in and out of Austria and in to Italy. But always have the feeling just about to get nicked. They have your eyes out for just afew kph over. The speeds we used to do there could say good bye to the motorcycle and expect a very rough deal. Add in eye watering prices for decent accommodation and food and drink.
    Grimsel
    Furka
    Sustenpass
Loads of good ones but dont feel able to enjoy them any more.

Three of us did ride out from BSMaurice in September. My mate wanted to see Mont Blanc, so I plotted a full day ride out, France, Switzerland, Italy, France. They both commented on the killjoy atmosphere there.
I dont know if covid and staycationing was having a big impact, but the St Bernard “passes” were not enjoyable. Just too many people, cars, bikes, motorcycles. Just could not get any rhythm going. Very surprised tbh comparing last time over that route.
The Italy section was especially hot and slow, not unusual I have found for Italy. You have to find the right roads and be on them at the right time.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  15. I'm planning a trip to the NC500 in April/May and have got Brno booked in June and Aragon in September up to now.

  16. Cheers mate. Been all over Andalusia. Wife’s family are from Seville and I lived there for a few years until their economy went tits up. Love it down there! :upyeah:

  17. I have 3 trips planned. All on my little 175cc MV agusta. First is the Milan-Taranto event in July about 1000 miles over 6 days. In September touring round 500 miles of Devon and Cornwall on an event started last year called the Giro SW, then a week later 600 miles round Northern Portugal. May find time for a trip on my ST4 round the UK in the summer that I was planning to do in 2020.

  18. Still plenty of 2020 riding to be done yet. 2021 sees the 3 musketeers getting back together to recreate a holiday from 10 years ago, unbelievable roads but let’s hope they haven’t grown speeding cameras over there .

  19. I agree, though this is an IAM trip with my observer. We're organising it together. Will be pretty sedate, will have to just appreciate the scenery. Have heard about the killjoy attitude. Hotels are all booked, not too unreasonable as price was negotiated as a group and accommodation is half board.
