Hamilton Spoiler!

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Arquebus, Nov 6, 2020.

  1. So true...

Personally I think the Merc is a better car/Team by some degree than all the others on track. I also think that Hamilton is the best driver this year and last year too (other years maybe not). Whilst it is possible for a driver who is not the very best to win the WDC, and for the fastest all around car/team not to win the championship; its highly unlikely that a driver and car/team would win so convincingly for such a long period were these not to be the case.

  2. Probably more interesting too. One of the best races I ever saw was a one make 2CV support event which was as mental as a Moto3 race and at every corner at least half the cars were travelling on 3 wheels or fewer

  3. But it's OK to "represent your country as a knight of the realm" when you're a twat and don't even live in the country? :D

  4. Senna and Mansell... Senna and Prost...

  5. So - now he's got Covid...
And when, exactly, did he find that out? Was it really "the symptoms were discovered early on Monday morning"?
Or - was it "tough day in more ways than one" Sunday?
    Hmmm... call me cynical...

  7. To be fair - F1 could learn a lot from MotoGP this year...
When the series has become boring because one irritating twonk is winning all the time just break his arm and bin him for 90% of the season... Eh Voila ! Much more interesting races... :)

  8. John Surtees - the only person to win premier class world championships on two wheels and on four. And also did a huge amount of work for charity. Hard to argue that he wasn't high profile... No knighthood for him...

  9. He would’ve been nowadays

  10. Hamilton may have some competition next season, Schumacher's son is driving for Haas next year.

  11. I'm glad you mentioned John Surtees as in terms of respect for a person off the track, they are not even in the same league (it's only my opinion). I've never met L.H. but know plenty who have.

  12. Surtees was an OBE, MBE & CBE so he was recognised. I would have preferred him to be a Lord than a good deal of the other burkes who lounge about in London for £300 a day drinking wine and eating our cake!

  13. I as among others said, that even MR. Bean would win in that car, let’s see if I’m right next Sunday....top 3 finish is a win in this case.

  14. Bottss might have a chance now.

  15. Well you’d think so wouldn’t you? He’s incapable of beating Hamilton but if he loses to George Russell, I’d say he’s in big trouble. Bottas easily has the most to lose in this scenario

  16. With the impromptu recent barbecue aside, I’d say F1 is in trouble. It’s so boring to watch. It’s like the Scottish Premier League. Never a surprise winner.

Look at MotoGP last season. Nine different winners. Ok, that might change next season when the bogey man’s back. I love watching MotoGP but I’ve massively lost interest in F1.

  17. I used to watch every F1 race and fall asleep during every race. I then thought to my self, what the point. I found it sooo dull. Then they brought out the Halo thing, that was it for me. They look so stupid. They should just make them have closed cockpits, and have the drivers with open face helmets on. Bit like when it's a wet bike race. Love seeing the effort being put in by the rider...…..Mind you how many people would throw things through their T.V when you saw Hamilton's face come on the screen. Used to like him too. But went off him straight away when it was the first American F1 in years and all the Black rap community were making it all about Lewis being black. Then when the race happened and something went against Lewis and he got penalised he said "Don't know why I'm always getting penalised, maybe it's because I'm black".....and on that day I brought myself a new T.V

  18. In fairness, having just had Covid, and my parents and my best mate, you do pretty much wake up and bang, it's with you, it's a funny old thing! so I personally think that after a day of high physical excursion such as the race etc it's entirely possible he woke up feeling pretty rough Monday as it took hold.

  19. I don't have a 'strong' opinion really on anything he says because I am starting to think I just don't understand the 'movement' or what the end goal of it all is (please don't someone make a sarcastic remark to that, the point is I'm not really sure it is about equality for all anymore), anyway... My issue with him is the stuff like riding his MV to work, like at Monaco where he clearly had the bike dropped off outside the gate and he rode it in for PR, because if you look at the tyres they were literally box fresh!! I get that he's trying to leverage his promotional worth, but he could do so much more.

TBH we all display traits influenced by the company we keep, in his case, he spent a long time in the celebrity scene and I think a bit of that has rubbed off on him. Somehow when I want to pin my hat on a British racer that managed to kinda keep it all on the Island and still come out with some cash in the bank, it's Jenson B for me.

  20. George Russell fastest in FP1.... having never driven the car before.

    hmmmmm.... suspicious haha
