Hi all. After various bits for the 959 so if you've got anything please give me a shout! Cheers -Front wheel with discs -Race fairings -Quick release fuel cap -Pair of tank sliders / protectors -Radiator guards
You racing it or just trackdays? I've got a brand new CRC bellypan/catch tray with the brackets here, £50 quid plus postage if it's any use. Got a K&N filter somewhere too.
Hello mate. Racing it, we’re doing the TriOptions next year. K&N oil filter? I’m after a whole fairing kit really but will let you know if the belly pan only could work if you don’t mind? ScrawnSenior - Is there a scrawn / scrawn junior around called Dave that I might have raced with at North Gloucester?
Simon, yes that's me. Figured you were doing ducati cup but wasn't sure. I see Mr Boucher is having a crack too. Have you got a profile on TDR too? Seen you on there but never here. I've got a few bits still floating around here from 899/959 days but not much as I moved to the Stocker this year. K&N is an air filter. Took it out when I switched to a different brand. The belly pan will fit under whatever fairings you choose to use I think. I sold the CRC set that was with it but kept hold of the belly pan as it wasn't needed by the buyer. If you need any help getting the bike sorted shout up. Whose 959 did you buy? Or did you buy a new one?
Hello Dave. Yes thats me, I use TDR quite a lot but never had a Ducati before so wasn't on here. We bought a bike from Steve Cobb, he was running them under the Quarry Plant livery - they just did this season and then packed up so they wouldn't have been around when you were in the series. The bike is pretty much ready to go, just a few odds and ends i need to track down. We'll do next year on it and all being well look for a V2 this time next year. Its got a pretty good set of CRC farings on already, Rich Hewitt is going to paint them for us so I'd like to find a second hand set to use for testing etc but if i cant find any I'll get a new set of uppers and side panels from CRC and send them to Rich instead of the ones that are already on the bike. I'll give you a shout back about the bellypan depending on whether a full set turns up if you dont mind. I think we're good for the airfilter, simon at wscperformance.co.uk is helping us out with all those kind of bits and pieces. If you've got anything else hanging around you think might be of use give me a shout. Yep Dan is giving it a crack too, he's been going well this year at No Limits I saw... You on the stocker again next year? It would be really handy to have someone who knows the bikes to fire a few questions at every now and again so if you dont mind I'll definitely shout up when stuff comes up, cheers.
Sounds like you are getting off on the right foot with a bike that has already been run as a race bike. Full conversion from a road bike is a bit time consuming. I did keep an eye to things this season to see who was out there so saw the Quarry Plant bikes. Was a strange feeling watching and trying to work out where I might have been but glad I moved up to the stocker now. Brought my riding on yet again and if I do it again this coming season I will keep making progress for sure. Faster than I have ever been and still at the back, says it all really in that stock class. I am on this forum fairly regular. Sometimes just snooping about and seeing what is going on and sometimes I will pipe up if I see something I feel I can comment on or help with. Feel free to ask anything you want about the Ducati. I lived and breathed them for five seasons. Brand new 899 as a road bike that I converted myself right through to the 959 as a new bike in 2018. Wouldn't mind a rip on a V2 to see how different they are but don't think I will go back for a full season on one. Enjoy mate and see you in the paddock next year.
Think I have some used R&G sliders in the garage you can have for nowt pal. They haven't been damaged but have been peeled off tanks that have gone for spraying so will need the silicone sealer cleaning off. Might have a set for the tail unit too. Will let you know in the next few days.
Yeah the Stock class is super competitive at the moment isnt it. At least you're going in the right direction, getting quicker! I'm hoping for a bit of the same but we'll have to see how we go with the Duc, havent ridden one / it yet. My laptimes on the R6 would put me somewhere mid pack ish so looks like a good starting point. Thanks very much for the offer of the sliders, that would be much appreciated. I'm happy to save a bit anywhere I can at the moment, more money for tyres. I'll drop you a PM. Good to know you're around if i get stuck with something. How'd you find the GSXR verusus the 959? GSXR was the other bike i was weighing when we decided to change class.
Ha, I wouldn't even bother trying to compare current lap times Simon. I did the same my first season, thought I would do ok. Was in for a shocker, got lapped by the first few riders at the first meeting. Just steady away mate and learn to ride at the next level. It's a big step up to the British and as much as I hear folk bemoaning the Ducati Cup class it is still a National level class with some top riders. It will bring you on without a doubt, race craft, speed, braking will all improve when you get out with quicker riders. Just enjoy it and take it as it comes. GSXR is different level to the 959. Another 50 horses, auto blipper, thumb brake amongst other things that have all require d learning. Plenty more to learn but is good fun now I am used to it. Tough initially though because of the pace in the class.
