  2. Yup, all round competent bike from high speed sport riding to rougher back roads. Likely even more perfect at everything than the GS

  4. I bet the V4 reviews have rattled a cage or two in the BMW research and development dept :joy:

    The GS will need more than a paint job to do what the new Multi will do :innocent:

  5. Yeah I'm sure they will be quaking in their boots :rolleyes: And what exactly is it the Multi can do the GS can't ??

    The GS has longer range , better fuel economy, has shaft drive, has a massive customer base and sells in numbers Ducati can only have wet dreams about. Or are you going to roll out the radar thingy that BMW already offers on some of the RT models and will no doubt find its way onto the GS ?

    The fanboy is strong with this one. :p

  7. Well the one thing that the new Multi has already done well that the GS hasn’t...........

    Made the majority of its previous model owners look elsewhere when most had no intention :worried:

  8. The simple fact is that GS's are like pubic hair every C---ts got them yes it has function but so has my toilet cystern. You say it has better fuel economy but most riders I know dont give a tinkers toss about economy or the fact range is way better on a GS.
    Again most people are happy to stop and take a break to top up grab a coffee a couple of times a day. Breaking your balls by riding 500 mile days end up not that much fun ... been there done that. So enjoy riding the GS its just not my cup of tea :p

  9. I like the painted nose cone.. I guess we’ll have to wait a few years, for that upgrade.
     
  10. So if Ducati succeeds and sells in numbers never imagined before the new V4 will become pubic hair. But if it doesn't it will be a failure since it will have alienated its customer base as well. Am I missing something?

    In some countries having a range of less than 270 kms can leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere, so providing a new model with bigger tank but equal or lesser range than the model of 10 years ago, is not what I call a success story.

  11. Well that's a start of a list of things it doesn't do better than the GS.

    Because, as you so quaintly put it 'every c*** has one' there are some pretty good reasons for that, but you will already have dismissed those out of hand as 'not giving a tinkers toss'.

    If its the 'exclusivity' you are looking at then obviously you think not many people will buy a new Multi which kind of defeats the object of making it in the first place. Or would you prefer they were 'like pubic hair and every c***' was riding one ?

    By the way I don't own a GS but respect what it is. You have to look objectively at what the new Multi is up against in the market and I think they will have a very hard time making even a dent in the GS culture.

  13. Well I popped along to Riders earlier to check out the V4 Multi and the V4S SF Stealth. I must say the SF looks awesome, but the matt paint will not satisfy my urge to polish paint!

    Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by the look of the Multi. However, it did remind me of a GS although from the front, it was much smaller than the bus of a GS.
    19" front wheel and small section rear tyre did look slightly odd. Not quite a Penny Farthing, but noticeable compared to the range of 1260 MTS' in the showroom.

    I am going to give the V4MTS a run out in the Spring as it wasn't quite as bad as I though it would be. Just gotta get rid of the GS look. I wished they'd made it look less like a 1260 Enduro though.

  14. JHP have had their bike delivered today.

    I wonder how long before we will be able to go and have a look? :confused:

    Looks like they have a V4s Sport version.

  15. Just thought I would add why I am looking at buying one. I have never paid much attention to the signature Ducati features like dry clutch, Desmo valve and Trellis frame. I never accepted these as USP’s ; as if they were all that other companies would do the same extensively.

    Secondly I tested a Multi in both 1200 and 1250 modes and found them cramped. The early Multi still had fuel clitches.
    Finally I looked hard at a GS but just could not get passed the fact that everyone has one.

  16. If that's naughty, my 1260 with a full Termi is completely filthy.

    Just the thing for a weekend away!

  18. All I heard on that video was a bunch of mechanical engine noise. I’m sure it sounds nice from behind - especially at full song and even better with a free-flowing pipe. My V4 Tuono sounded amazing, even with the stock pipe (loudest stock pipe on any bike I’ve ever owned).

    I’m quite happy with the sound of my 1260 S with full Termi though.
     
  19. Yes.... Definitely needs a proper pipe on it, that sounds about the same as my old mini.

    We need to hear it at full chat on a fly past with their optional full system it’s only £ 2376 extra :upyeah:
